I planted several dahlia tubers from costco back in mid april (my first time) and this one in particular didn’t grow too well so I decided to dug it up today so I can use the pot.
Question: there seems to be more of theses guys than when I planted, what can I do with these?
I’m very new to dahlias, this is my first year growing. I planted both of these tubers on April 11, started indoors (zone 3) until I moved them to the green house sometime in May. They have both been on the same watering/fertilizer schedule, have been side by side on my south facing deck.
Could you explain what happened here?
And also, how long can I get away with keeping the big girl in that small pot?

A couple of days ago we had to let our boy Popcorn rest. It was really unexpected, but it was the kindest choice. He’s been with me for about 8 years and was a few years old already when I adopted him; I wish we could have had more time.
