170+ lbs down, Surgery Inbound AMA

A few months ago I posted here after losing 165+ lbs and said I’d update when I knew more about skin removal surgery.

Well, I’m now 170+ lbs down and IT’S HAPPENING!!

My surgery is officially scheduled for September 17th! I’ll be having a panniculectomy + Fleur-de-Lis abdominoplasty with mons repair and muscle repair. No lipo. I have an estimated 15 lbs or more that will be removed in skin and residual tissue.

When I made my original post, I had just gotten to the BMI requirement to start having surgical consults and had absolutely no idea what would happen from there. Now I’m less than a month away, which feels completely surreal.

HW: ~390–400 lbs
Starting Zep weight: 320 lbs
Current weight: ~217 lbs

At this point, surgery isn’t really about getting smaller. The loose abdominal skin causes hygiene issues, irritation, rashes and skin breakdown, and I’m SO ready to see what life is like without it.
I’m nervous because major surgery is, well, major surgery and it’s my first ever surgery, so double whammy, but mostly I’m incredibly excited.

A lot of people had questions about loose skin and surgery on my original post, so AMA again! I’m happy to talk about the consult process, insurance, costs, surgery prep (pre-op isn’t until 9/3 but I still have some idea of what’s ahead), GLP-1s, weight maintenance, or whatever else.

I’m not quite brave enough for public belly/loose-skin pictures yet, so clothed progress pics will have to do for now. 😂 But I’m documenting everything and plan to come back after surgery with the actual before/afters and recovery update.

40 day countdown

Howdy yall, just looking for some encouragement.

I have lost 175 lbs from my highest weight and I’m left with a lot of loose skin and residual tissue in my tummy, pannus, and mons.
I met with a wonderful surgeon and my insurance is covering a panniculectomy and I am upgrading with a FDL TT with mons-lift. I was hoping for an October date but insurance gave me a 60 day PA and my surgeon had one day left so 9/17 it is.

This is my first ever surgery so I am pretty anxious. I have an amazing team, a wonderful and supportive partner, and my ma is coming out to help care for me.

Due to the amount of skin and tissue (est. minimum of 15+ pounds) the surgery is estimated to be 6-7 hours and an overnight stay.

I’m just really anxious. Clearly very excited, but so anxious. Any advice for overcoming the anxiety would be greatly appreciated. For now I am sticking with the “do it scared” mentality.

Down 165lbs. AMA

I've lost 165 Ibs and it's weird. Not bad weird. Just weird.
I am becoming me. Not just smaller in size, but bigger in myself.
And when it really comes down to it I'm still me.
Still weird.
Still healing.
Still magical.
Still growing.

I'm just glowing now.

HW: ~390-400 lbs
SW: 320 Ibs
CW: 224 lbs

Next step is skin removal surgery. I literally just met the BMI requirements for consults, which feels surreal honestly.

Ultimate goal is around 190 Ibs.

AMA! Happy to answer questions about loose skin, side effects, hair loss, body image, surgery plans, mental changes, or anything else.
