Crazy milestone achieved yesterday

Yesterday I hit 50% of my body weight lost! I started Feb 2024 so it has been steady but not super fast.

I started at 287, now 143.
Size 24 and 2XL to size 8/10 and M
Shoe size 9 to 8.

It’s literally crazy to think about. I have epic amounts of saggy skin and I’ve lost muscle that I’m working on regaining, but I’m so pleased with how my journey has gone!

Journey so far

Changed my goal weight. Now its %67

13 and a half months so far

Hoping to lose 30-40 more. Doctor said body resists and doesn’t lose after a point and he sounded like my goal weight is hard to happen. But I see you guys achieve it. Why wouldn’t I.

Closing in on my "good enough" goal.

My ultimate goal is to get down in the 220-230 range. However, my good enough goal is an even 200 from when I started in January last year (note. I am aware the chart says may, however I started my GLP-1 journey in Jan 2025 where I was the same weight if not heavier than what is listed in May). Wasn't sure I was going to get this far. I hit 300 in March and then my weight bounced between the same two pounds for the next month which was not fun. I kept at it and here am.

March weigh ins for reference.

March 9th-299
March 16th-297.1
March 23rd -299.5
March 24th-297.6
March 30th-297.4

Another ten pounds down

As of today, I’ve lost 195 pounds. (170 since I started glp-1’s) I still have a long way to go, and I’m a little in shock. Gods willing and the creek don’t rise, quite soon it will be over 200 pounds.

I’ve been feeling frustrated with a plateau, so I hadn’t weighed myself as often as I had been, (which makes my dietitian happy). So yeah… I’m going to be over here admiring my clavicles. 😂

Finally in the club!!!

Yay! I woke up today and finally hit my 100 pounds loss! So excited and just grateful for all this medicine has given me back. I still have like 80 more pounds to go but I know I can do it! Definitely celebrating this first big goal and the day before our celebration for America!!! 🎉🎉🇺🇲🫶🥳❤️💪🎉🎉

Why have I stopped losing?

I (35f 148kg/326lbs) haven’t lost any weight in over two months. I take tirzepatide 7.5mg. I’ve been in deficit the whole time (I count calories religiously). My step count is about 6k+ per day and I do pilates for an hour at least twice per week. I really don’t know what to do

Feeling IRL lonely about this process

We all know there are really weird parts of this whole deal when you lose a lot of weight. I am trying to come to terms with this changing body. Of COURSE there are good things: my metabolism is definitely largely fixed. I feel good. No more aches and pains. My labs look good. My body wants movement now.

And there are also parts that are hard for me to deal with. What's with all of these pokey bones and gross, that tendon behind my knee is creepy. My veins stick up. I have a turkey neck. I never know what size I am. People feel OK commenting on the weight loss.

I have a few people in my life also on a GLP1, but for various reasons I can't really address any of those issues. Sometimes I just want to be like this specific thing is on my nerves and get a little commiseration or even just listening. What I get as responses are body negative comments ("that's what happens when the bones aren't covered in fat!") or people "yeah, but ____" I recognize that people have their own hang ups and none of us are free from societal or self-judgement about these issues.

But can't I just feel a little weird or put out some times?? I recognize the good things and I think the bad things are just as valid. I'm not interested in criticizing my old body or creating a good vs bad dichotomy. Sometimes ya just need to vent.

A friendly reminder for you beautiful people

I see some self hatred from people regarding their past selves on here. And honestly just a level of cruelty sometimes. I’m 16m postpartum and gained 100lbs from my pregnancy/postpartum and don’t get me wrong, there was a time where I had a lot of hatred and loathing towards myself too. But I treated her baaad.

I just want to take a few minutes to remind all of you absolutely beautiful souls here…

Your past self still carried YOU through moments, experiences, good days, bad days.

Your past self showed up for you when sometimes no one else did.

Your past self didn’t know the right habits yet, and may not have known how their choices were impacting their body. Give them some grace for that. Because YOU LEARNED, you grew, you moved forward better from it.

Your past self would have loved to be shown more love. You can give that to him/her now.

Your past self would be so proud of your present self. What better support system to cheer you on than knowing your past self was rooting for you all along?

What was harder than you expected after starting?

For those with 100+ lbs to lose, what part of the journey challenged you the most? Not just side effects, but more the mental or unexpected things along the way.

I feel like I can actually start living my life

I'm 46, happily married, have an amazing son, and a career. But it's only now that I'm actively losing weight that I feel like I can actually start living my life the way I want to. I can finally start dressing the way I want to. I am finally comfortable learning certain blue collar skills and possible career change. I can start living out loud and be as weird as I want to.

It's frustrating looking back at the last 40+ years and realize that I was so afraid of being myself and standing out because, as a fat person, I just wanted to be invisible.

6 MONTH RECAP

Since today is JULY 1st lets reflect back on the first 6 months of the year.

Here are some questions I thought up:

How much weight did you lose JAN-JUNE?
Did you hit goal or have you maintained goal the entire 6 months?
How close to goal are you?
What is the biggest Non scale victory AND scale victories you have achieved?
Anything that surprised you? (Good or bad)
Anything disappointing that happened?
And lastly what are you looking forward to most the next 6 months?

Feel free to answer any or all of these questions or just share how the first 6 months of 2026 has gone for you in your own words!!

My answers:

The first 6 months of 2026 has a lot more physical changes for me compared to last year. Even when the scale wasnt moving I could see changes and in general feel amazing. Ive lost 34lbs so far, (total 172.2lbs) and im moy yet at goal but will hit it in the next 6 months. Im 28lbs from my OG goal of 140 and 33lbs from my maintenance goal of 135.

Biggest scale victory for me is being in the overweight bmi catergory at 168.6!! And biggest non scale victory is I am FIRMLY out of plus size clothing wearing size 10/12😮‍💨 I can shop at most places though some stores ive noticed stopped carrying above size 12/13 now which really sucks. As much as im happy im out of plus sizes its still sad that there are not that many places for plus size shoppers.

One thing thats really crazy to me is that im at the point where every 10lbs really does show! I always felt that was so untrue but it really isnt.. And finally IM SO READY TO HIT GOAL AND GO SHOPPING!!!!!! 🫰🏾😏😮‍💨😝

Body changes:

Jan 1st 2026 weight: 202lbs
June 30 2026 weight: 168.6lbs

Jan Bust: 40in
June Bust: 39in (this is so sad like wow my cup fr isnt change but hey at least ill still be eligible for a breast reduction this way)
Jan waist: 35in
June waist: 32in (the road to 28 continues, i went from 36 to 34 in 4 months and then 34 to 32 in 2 months, I suspect itll get less and less until I hit goal)
Jan hips: 44in
June hips: 39in

Jeans size jan: 14/16
Jeans size june: 10/12
Shirt size jan: L
Shirt size june: M

Heres to hoping the next 6 months will be even better than the first 6!! (Photos in comments)

Brutal honesty

I haven’t started GLP1’s but am HEAVILY considering it. I have tried to lose weight on my own all year and have seen little progress. I injured my back which has made keeping my deficit up more difficult. For reference i am 28F, 5’6, 228lbs. With my back injury it’s been hard for me to really do any heavy lifting or running. Being more stationary than I’m used to has also given more time for food noise to creep in. I really want to continue to lose weight but I am worried about that being viable with my current situation, which is where the GLP1’s come in.

Please be fully, brutally honest, what can I expect from them realistically? Will progress still be made without being able to be very active? Will they help cut down the food noise? Have you had any side effects? What is a realistic timeline for weight-loss with them, as in how quickly can I expect to see/feel a difference? Is loose skin unavoidable without lifting weights? How exactly do they make you feel? I don’t want to be crabby all the time. I have also heard they are not easy to get off of once started, is that true? Has anyone had any experience/trouble with that or anything else?

Movin' on up (to 7.5)

I was on 5 for 13 weeks, and it was about 3 weeks too long. My doctor really wants me to stay on the lowest dose that is still effective, but I had the feeling that the food noise was coming back and I started feeling just like my old self again.

It turns out that I was right. Over the last 2 or 3 weeks, I have gained a handful of pounds, but mostly I have been snacking at night. When the meds were doing what they were supposed to do, I really didn't snack at all. I mean, I would have fruit and yogurt and meat sticks, but they were just to meet my protein or calorie goals.

But in the last 2 weeks, they have been snacks to meet my cravings.

I just took my first 7.5 injection today, and I really hope things settle down.

It's so hard to accept that this is going to work. Even though I've lost nearly 50 lbs in five months, having the food noise back is so disappointing and scary. I know in my mind that this can work, in the old parts of my brain, I feel like a failure.

4 months in maintenance - My experience and what I've learnt

I sorta count my maintenance start as March 1, but I guess it started a little bit earlier. In any case, it's much easier to math from the beginning of a month so let's use that 😄

Many of you probably seen me post here throughout my journey, but a quick rundown is I started in November 2024 at around 152 kilos and hit maintenance in March 2026 at around 90 kilos. Highest dose was 10mg for a few weeks (I have to double check but it's somewhere around 6-7 weeks), but have mostly been on 7.5mg.

Overall I've enjoyed maintenance. It's freeing being able to eat more and not being so strict, but I've loosened the reins a bit too much I'm afraid.

The Negative

Over the last couple months my weight has slowly but steadily crept up. I've gone from a low of 88 to a high of 94 as of today. That number is a bit inflated, but nevertheless my 'real' weight is somewhere around 92-93 kilos.

Overweight BMI for me starts at 94 kilos so this is my 'red line'. This month I am going back to logging every day and I'm going to cut out the snacks. Goal is by the end of this month to see 90 kilos on the scale again.

What I am learning is that while I do need to eat more, I also need to eat smarter. I had said no for almost 18 months straight and it was honestly nice to start saying yes to things. Saying yes once in a while is fine, but for me it's turned into yes every single time and that's due to me changing my environment and buying more snacks and such to keep in the house. That's changing today.

I'll post an update again perhaps around the 6 month mark as I'll hopefully have good news by then, but let's see how it goes. This is a stage 1 intervention, if this move doesn't go well I'll go up a dose next month. I'm just avoiding it as I always have side effects during titration and I just don't want to deal with it again.

The Positive

As I mentioned earlier, overall I've been enjoying maintenance. I've had low level fatigue for some time and that's steadily improved as I've stayed in maintenance. I've realized a lot of it has to do with fueling, not just the medication.

At my starting weight I was rather inactive and had little to no energy to do anything so I didn't have to pay much attention to what or when I ate. I felt the same. Now, I've slowly realized that I need to eat a couple times a day to keep my energy levels up. If I go too long between meals, aside from feeling hungry of course, I notice I get drained so easily. Especially if I'm doing something physical. Making this connection has taken me far longer than I'd like to admit to realize.

Now that I've realized it, I feel a lot better throughout the week and throughout the day too. I don't dip towards the end of the day and just feel good consistently. Increasing my fluids has also helped with this general feeling of wellbeing.

Reaching this equilibrium also means I have mental space to do other things. Right now for example I'm trying to get back into running. Before I found it hard to focus on other hobbies as I have a one track mind and when I'm all in on something I can't focus on other interests. It's good not to have that overhead anymore.

The Future

Even though I'm at a technically healthy weight according to BMI, I have near obese levels of body fat according to BMI. I need to lose about 10 kilos of it to get to okay levels (sub 20% for a man), but closer to 15 kilos to get to optimum for a man (15% or so). Bit disheartening to realize how low body fat levels are for men to be 'healthy' but it is what it is. Of course, I can build some muscle so I don't need to lose as much weight, but even then I can only realistically put on 5-10 and that'll take years at my age.

Even though I've lost 60 or so kilos, the thought of having to lose another 10 or so feels overwhelming. To be honest, I sometimes wonder now that I've lost the weight how I even did it in the first place. Seems like a miracle that it could ever happen. In any case, I'm firm with not going at it again until next year. This year I just want to relax and enjoy maintenance a bit and develop other interests. This month is a slight exception as I need to get back on track, but hopefully I don't need to go all in as much as I just need to tighten things up slightly.

Conclusion

Anyway, that's it for now. I've sorta decided I'm repeating myself too much in the weekly threads I participate in so for now at least I'll do updates like this once in a while as I'm figuring this out so you'll see me here and in some other comments from time to time, but maybe not as much as before. Best of luck to you all wherever you're at in your journey!

Almost at 100lbs but lost mot

I’ve been on this journey for 2 years now. I’m almost to the 100 pound loss mark at 96lbs. For some reason, for the last couple of months I’ve lost my motivation. I can’t get back in the groove. I had a gym routine that included strength training, tracked my calories, and regularly met my protein and water goals. I’ve been on 12.5 for several months too. Now it is hard for me to even get 40oz of water down. I have no desire to workout. Some days I’m within my calorie target and but I am definitely not meeting my protein and fiber goals. I am also eating out more. I’m like why all of a sudden do I feel like this? I’m so close to a huge milestone but just feel stuck now. Any pointers to shake this and get back to the routine? Anyone else felt like this?

Quite literally never thought I’d be here

I’ve (38F) been stuck at 205 for over 4 months. I thought that maybe my body had reached a set point and wasn’t gonna budge. I have not seen a one at the beginning of my weight since I was 14/15 so this is just crazy. 90+lbs down overall, over two years. (Started July ‘24) Slow and steady 🙌🏼
