Starting out

Sorry if I’ve selected the wrong flair!!

Hi all. I will likely be starting mounjaro in September. After two children and a catastrophic ankle injury, I have found myself at a much higher BMI than I should be.

I am hoping to pair mounjaro with a light workout regime (all my injury recovery will permit).

And I was hoping to hear some people’s experience in using mounjaro specifically! Thank you

Hopefully getting my first allotment soon!

Hi all, I’m hopefully getting an allotment in the next few weeks. They just need to make sure personal items have been removed from plots.

Give me all your tips and tricks! I’m from a country where we just have our vegetable gardens in our At home gardens.

To pull or not to pull

Should I just bite the bullet and pull out my broccoli? They were doing fantastically until I got busy with work and were neglected for a few days. They’ve now been absolutely ravaged by caterpillars. I’m thinking I just yank them out and plant something else. Some people are suggesting to use an insecticide. But I have pets and small children so not comfortable with that.

I have what seems like a silly question!

Please bear with me because I know how silly this sounds! But I am from a country where we only have growing season in the summer and then our vegetable patches are covered in a large layering of snow and the weather you cannot grow in.

So what are we doing in England in the winter months with our vegetable patches? Covering them? Letting them run wild?

I’d love any tips!

Applying for a nursery chef job.

Hi all! Sorry if this isn’t the right place to post but I wasn’t sure where else to post it! I, mother of 2, have decided to apply to work as nursery chef in my children’s nursery. We are located in England if this is relevant. There’s 5 other applications at the moment so I’m really not getting my hopes up. I guess what puts apart from the other applicants is that I am actually a trained chef, I went to school about a decade ago in a well known North American institution, and I’ve spent the past decade working in fine dining kitchens (very well known in our area) and popular pubs. I also maintain my own health and hygiene certifications as well as allergen training. But I just have been trying to find something that works within my children’s nursery hours. As my partner puts it, I am “grossly overqualified” for the position.

Somethings telling me that I _wont_ get the job but give it to me straight please! What’s it like working in a nursery kitchen in England?

Considering

Hi all,

I’m 28F, work as a chef, and since having my second baby I’ve really been struggling with my weight and my head around food. I feel like there is just this constant “food noise” now. I’m thinking about eating all the time, snacking at work is way too easy, and I feel like I’ve completely lost control around food. My weight has gone up quite a bit and I just feel stuck in it. I didn’t experience this after the birth of my first child either. I’ve spoken to my doctor but it honestly didn’t help much. She gave the usual answers. Suggested I got to the gym more (I try to swim three times a week lr gym three times a wee or a combination). Like I’m going to be able to squeeze MORE gym time in between taking care of two small children and working a full time job.I’ve been looking into GLP-1 meds because I keep seeing people say it helps quiet that food noise and appetite, which is exactly what I feel like I’m battling. But I’m also really nervous about side effects and what it means long term, especially being 28 and a mum of two. I just feel a bit lost with it all… I see all this conflicting information online. Unknown long term effects. Muscle density. What will it do? I’m scared of of going down the medication route without fully understanding it.
