Mildly Annoying

After getting barely a hit on my items for sale, some of which have been listed for months, I get three people contacting me about some pricier items within 12 hours, so of course I was quick to respond, answering questions, etc.

So I have two buyers who say they want to come today. One customer told me yesterday she’d be here at 1 pm. This morning she messaged at 9 am (EST) and said she was heading my way “now” so I’ve been watching out for her. Since then. As I type she messaged me and said her ETA was 11:30 am!?! Like she did not tell me she was 2 and 1/2 hours away!

Second customer messages early this morning, asks for my address, gets it, and said she’s leaving her house “in a minute.” I just got a text from her saying she will also be here at 11:30 even though according to her location I should have seen her at 9:30 am.

Are the FB marketplace gods just messing with me? Do people not understand sellers have lives outside selling and cannot just sit around waiting, or do they figure they can call the shots as the buyer? I did tell both of them when asking for a TOA that I would be available until 1 pm. Maybe that’s my mistake but I still asked them to give me a specific time. I can’t really relax and focus on other things while looking out for 2 different people to show up, or wondering if they will actually show.

How scared should I be

A week or so ago I (59 yrs F) noticed what I now know are floaters in my right eye. There was no trigger that I can recall, except maybe driving over a big pothole. Now I keep thinking I’m seeing a bug out of the corner of my eye. I looked it up and started reading about light flashes, retinal tear, detachment, loss of vision, etc.
In the past couple of days light flashes come at times in my far right eye. I’m starting to feel the eye is sensitive and feel pressure in it, but I also read all about those symptoms when I googled it, so maybe I’m being paranoid. Unfortunately I’m an avoider so I waited until today (Friday afternoon) to call the ophthalmologist.

The ophthalmologist said go to an ER or urgent care immediately. My problem is I have terrible insurance and am living on a meager retirement income. I have a huge dislike of ERs because they charge so much to waste your time and tell you what you could have figured out anyway.

Am I safe to just stay out at home as much as possible til Monday morning? Should I cover my eye, lie down, stay in the dark until Monday? Is there a best position to stay in as long as possible?

When Will it End?

The nightmares, I mean! I retired in 2024 and my nightmares about school are more vivid than ever. I actually don’t even like going to bed at night. The dreams are so real that they affect my mood the next morning. The theme is usually some combination of an out of control, overcrowded classroom with negative encounter with my last principal (who genuinely did not like me. I hate that I ended my career with her because up until I changed schools that last 6 years I felt confident in my teaching ability. I couldn’t breathe right with this last principal.

Anyway, anyone else have teaching nightmares even after leaving the profession or retiring? Will they ever go away? How do I retire the nightmares?

I am now 30 day+ into my 3rd Facebook sale in which people paid via Venmo for their item, said they were picking the item (s) up, but they never follow through. All 3 people have told me multiple times they were coming to pick up.

The other day I sent each of them a message a few days ago stating “Hello, please let me know a date and time within the week you can come pick up the _____ you purchased from me. I am selling things to downsize here and need the items gone as quickly as possible.”

Two people read their messages and did not respond. The third message has not been read. That person has left their necklace with me for two years now! Are there Marketplace rules on how long to hold items for people? I need the space and the money!
