Lemon and Elderflower

Lemon and Elderflower

This was my wedding cake I made, almost a year ago! We had a small, back garden wedding, and my husband and his brother are both coeliac.

This is the recipe I used :-) with some flavour tweaks.
Becky Excell never goes wrong for me, her cakes always turn out lovely and no one’s ever seemed to notice they’re gluten free when I use hers.

Edit: Dumbo knows now not to use Babies Breath in baking!!!!

8 months pp and dropping to bits

It’s probably the 24/7 being ‘on’ and waking up 3/4 times on a ’good’ night and breastfeeding and constant worrying about doing things right and having basically 0 help around and trying to do anything for myself that’s not rushed and just never ending exhaustion…

but I feel like I’m dropping to bits honestly.

my skin is sallow and dry and spotty

my hair is frizzy and full of split ends

my body is crying out for nutrients that won’t immediate get carted out in breast milk

my brain lurches from thought to thought just discarding information unless it’s something negative, then it fixates

I never understood what women meant when they say they lost themselves after having a baby but I totally get it now!

I live in hope that after the breastfeeding weans a bit more/completely, and baby accepts Dad’s input more that I’ll start to feel myself again.

I’m soooo looking forward to having my hair done and exercising and actually feeling nourished after eating healthy meals! Don’t know when it’ll happen but I can’t wait to not feel like a manky old husk of a woman 😂
