I’ve been trying to find a replacement for my current backpack and keep coming back to the Fjällräven Raven 20.

What I really like about it is the clean, understated look and, especially, the internal organization. I want a backpack with lots of pockets and compartments instead of just one big empty space.

The problem is that my work laptop is a 16” model and, from everything I’ve read, it won’t fit in the dedicated laptop sleeve. The Raven 28 isn’t really an option because I’m quite short, and I already feel like most larger backpacks look huge on me.

Right now I’m using a Kånken Laptop 15. Ironically, my work laptop doesn’t fit in the laptop compartment either, so I carry it loose in the main compartment. Another reason I want to replace it is that it always looks boxy and bulky, even when it’s almost empty.

Does anyone have recommendations for backpacks that:
- have a similar aesthetic to the Raven 20 (minimal, not overly tactical or outdoorsy)
- have excellent internal organization
- fit a 16” laptop in a proper laptop compartment
- are around the 20L range and don’t look oversized on a shorter person

I have been a long time Fjallraven backpack user. In the past 13 years I have had at least 4 different Kanken backpacks.

However, as the years go by I grew tired of the boxy look of these bags. I am currently using a 15-inch laptop Kanken, but for everyday use and my daily commute on public transportation I find it too large and boxy.

I was looking at the Raven 20L model and was about to buy it on the website, but remembered that I will soon start working two days from home, so I’ll need to add my work laptop and charger to the list of things I’ll need to carry around with me.

I use a 16-inch HP EliteBook 6 g1i 16-inch Notebook AI PC. Does anyone know if I can fit this laptop (without a sleeve) on a 15inch Raven 20? Should I go for the 28L model? I am afraid the 28 will be too large (just like my current Kanken), thus this question. I’ve tried to fit my work laptop on the designated compartment of my 15-inch Kanken Laptop and it fits but not without some pressure or without wiggling it around a bit.
