Pls help dealing with 3 1/2 year old boy

Hello, ive been this with this family since said boy was about 6 months. He has a very smart and kind older sister who is 5 and a younger brother who is 11 months. The 3 year old on his own is soooo smart and curious and like so fun. With his siblings these past few weeks its a differen story.

Lately when he is playing with his sister or the baby he has been extremely rough and at times mean. With his sister he has been hitting and kicking so much and then when i correct him he gets more and more angry to like tantrum level. He also has been acting like super incompetent to put it frankly which I know for a 3 year old is most things, but things I know he can do he just refuses to do and starts hitting and yelling. Today I asked him to get his water bottle and he looked at me like I was asking him the radius of the sun.

Its a vicious cycle. For example, I say "hey please set that glass down it could break" than bam. Its been thrown and now he is angry and trying to throw more and jerking his body every which way, face red, the whole nine yards.

For discipline rn Ive been having him just sit on the couch or chair near me until he is ready to apologize/clean/etc.

I just would love to break whatever cycle this is because its making it miserable for his siblings. Like is it just jealousy? How do I address that? Is jt just a phase?

Does anyone else get stressed when your boss is being too nice to you?

To preface my current MB and I aren't really close. My prior MB and I were super friendly, and would hang out and text etc. My current MB, she's a fantastic mom and really kind and can be super sarcastic but thats about all I know about her and I couldn't tell you anything more. She is a super private or at least she is with me and her husband has also said as much. I genuinely couldn't tell you anything personal about her and I've worked with the family for almost 5 years. We never text outside of like the kids, schedules, sending photos, etc.

That being said, they also never really say anything personal or like thank you to me outside of holidays which is fine by me but she just sent me a text out of the blue and is basically "thank you for all that you do for our family" and like now I'm all stressed out like am I getting fired? She did say "see you monday" but dang 😳 scared the crap out of me at first.
