NIT Silchar Civil vs AEC CSE/ECE – Which should I choose?

Hello everyone,

I'm in a dilemma and would really appreciate some honest advice.

My options are:

  1. NIT Silchar: Civil Engineering

  2. Assam Engineering College (AEC): CSE or ECE

A little about me:

I'm genuinely interested in coding, software development, and the tech field.

My priorities are good placements, long-term career growth, higher studies opportunities, and overall college exposure.

I know the NIT tag carries a lot of value, but I'm worried that taking Civil might make it harder to build a career in software compared to studying CSE/ECE at AEC.

If you were in my position, what would you choose and why?

I'd love to hear from current students, alumni, or anyone who has faced a similar decision. Please share your experiences regarding placements, coding culture, internships, branch flexibility, and long-term prospects.

Thank you in advance!
