I’m currently evaluating my options and will likely be choosing between ECE and EIE at NIT Silchar.

I would really appreciate some honest insights, advice, or reality checks from anyone currently studying there or recent alumni. I’ve broken my main doubts down into a few specific questions:

1. Placement Realities & Coding: What did the actual placement statistics look like for the latest batch in both ECE and EIE? Do most tech companies allow EIE students to sit for interviews alongside CSE/ECE? Also, is coding absolutely compulsory to get a decent package, or do solid core electronics/instrumentation companies recruit heavily on campus?
2. The "Remote Location" Factor: Silchar is geographically quite isolated. What are the practical, day-to-day consequences of this during the 4-year B.Tech journey? (e.g., travel hassle, food/climate adjustments, access to external resources).
3. Corporate Outreach: Does the distance/location actively discourage major tier-1 tech or core companies from visiting the campus physically for placements and internships? Are online/virtual hiring processes the norm here because of the location?
4. ECE vs. EIE Decision: If you were back in my shoes, which one would you choose and why? Is the academic workload in EIE slightly lighter than the notoriously hectic ECE curriculum, or are they equally grueling?
5. Campus Culture & Facilities: Any other insider info you can provide regarding the campus culture, coding environment, labs, or professor mentality would be incredibly helpful!

Hey seniors, can someone please tell me that which is academically challenging and which is comparatively a chill branch: ME or EE in silchar nit ? because i have honestly interest in both and any of this two branch will suite me and i will work hard to achieve a cgpa above 8 in total. Also which subject demands more mathematics ? Which among these both subjects have good ROI during on campus placements ? If one appears GATE examination, who will likely have a better upper hold while getting PSU jobs ?

1.attendence ka kya scene hain , strict toh nhi?(ECE m)
2.and i have 800k subs , so content creation kr paayenga wahaan
3.Bully krna and strict administrative types , and gunda gardi toh nhi , i have traumas(serious)
4. Sirf north eastern log toh nhi hain naa( like i want some diversities)

(Gen Male) I am getting CSE.......Now, I can arrange the Jossa fees. However, I would need edu loan for the entire degree...My parents CIBIL is very low(550ish, active loan pe default etc..) and family income is <1lpa...(ik tution wavier mil jayega but wo refund hai na, pehel to out of pocket pay karte rehna hoga....)

So will loan be a big issue? I dont mind higher interests etc but the goddman loan itself, will i be able to get it? Is there anything such as alumini fund/scholarships?

Most importantly, what would happen if banks reject the loan, will i have to drop out??

I can get Bihar Student credit Scheme(cap-4lakhs...usmien cibil etc nahi dekhte....But will take 45days or so to process....But us bich laptop(70k ig) etc + 1st sem fee total 1.5lakhs (including jossa ka 75k + reporting day payment....)

The trees of NITS are bearing the cost of the ECO Club’s silence.

Why are the trees being cut down? Everyone hates it from the heart, many people would have stood up if you had started a protest or at least filed a complaint. And even if no one came out, it was still your duty to speak for the environment. If you are too scared to do that, then at least you should have call it out on your social media handles.

The ECO Club, which was supposed to be the best club, has turned out to be the worst because of its cowardice.

Please, ECO Club, save them.
