Simple but high quality recorder for acoustic piano

Hi. I'm new here and I know versions of this question have been asked before, so apologies if it's a bit redundant, but I haven't seen exactly the answer I'm after.

I'm a producer working exclusively in Ableton on my Mac but I need to record some acoustic piano remotely (ie. my piano and my Mac are on different floors). I want to use my iPad with a Scarlett 4i4 interface.

I just want a simple audio recorder but of very good quality that I can easily export .wav or .aiff from. I tried Garageband but I don't run it on my Mac and I don't like dealing with the .band files.

I was thinking of Audacity but now it seems like it's a subscription, which turns me off.

Anyone have suggestions?

What’s going on with my table saw

Crafted CX212 cabinet saw with wobbly arm for riving knife. Is this something you can DIY?

Need creative ideas for working with two different vocal stems

I'm on a project now making some pretty abstract and experimental music, and the current track has a male and female vocal singing two different non-English folk songs. The singing is in the same key for both. I'd like to try to merge them into something new, but so you could still tell it was a man and woman singing. I've been playing around with Granulator III and Vector Grain, using both vocal stems playing at once, but looking for any other ideas, the freakier the better.

Strega cables?

Hi. I am helping a friend connect Strega. We are in different time zones and I don’t have a Strega so just some basic questions.

From reading the manual, I see the ‘line’ output jack takes a TRS cable. What’s the best cable to connect to an audio interface? Does Strega output stereo?

My friend wants to use a mic for input. I assume they will need a preamplifier of some kind, correct?

Is installing sliding patio doors a DIY job?

Hello. I want to install some properly insulated sliding patio doors in the home but I don’t know if it’s something I can take on myself. I’m pretty handy and have installed doors and jambs before and am an experienced woodworker.

Situation - right now I have interior grade French doors opening into a solarium and as you can imagine, there are useless for insulation in the extreme weather seasons. I live in Ontario Canada with hot humid summers and very cold winters.

For anyone with knowledge:
- is this a DIY job?
- if so, what skills and special tools would be needed?
- I’m not even sure if I can get such doors in a size to match the opening. How does this work? Are they are custom made like windows?

Thanks for reading.

“Fans” asking for yum codes

Looking for opinions from musicians releasing on Bandcamp and giving out yum codes.

Recently I uploaded codes for two albums to band.codes. On one of the releases the codes got all used up and a listener, who had used a code for the other release, contacted me to ask for a code for the one that had run out.

Isn’t the idea that listeners can use the codes to try an artist out to see if they like them, and then buy the music?

Am I wrong to be miffed about it or am I being an old grump?

Entire album available before release date?

I recently set up an album with pre orders open now and release date of May 29, 2026. Someone bought the album on pre order but was able to download the whole thing and also stream from my page. Is that how it's supposed to work?

Here's the page - https://voltij.bandcamp.com/album/states-2

EDIT thanks for the speedy and correct replies people. Don't know how I messed that up.

▲ 24 r/Genesis

Genesis is my favourite band of all time, and I recently finished building my home studio and thought I’d like to name it after something from Genesis lyrics.

Any suggestions?
