Do you measure from the rubber on the swing arm or the swing arm it’s self?

This is a genuine dumb question but I’m not sure if Yamaha is asking to measure from one or the other when adjusting the chain. Is my chain good btw? I need a second opinion on if it has a good amount of slack. Thank you
