Marketside tempura shrimp

I these were surprisingly good. The batter is very crispy with a subtle flavor. They are about 4 inches long not including the tail. The shrimp is good but they could definitely be bigger, it’s sort of a thin long piece of shrimp. That said the combination of the batter and shrimp is delicious. I cooked them in the air fryer it only takes 6-8 minutes. Comes with 2 kinds of sauce, a soy and a sweet chili. I’m really picky about sauces so I used the Dumpling Girl brand I always have on hand. I will buy them again. If I remember correctly they were $7.74 at Walmart of course.

Doctoring Sweet Sue Chicken and Dumplings to be more like homemade

Place the dumplings in a pan over medium heat. Break apart the dumplings. Add some chicken bullion but be careful of the salt. Mine is powdered so I use a couple of shakes and taste before adding more. I also add black pepper and onion powder. Sometimes I add peas and carrots. While this is cooking, mix 2 teaspoons each of butter and flour to make a paste. Drip little balls of this into the pot. Use half of this and then let it boil for a minute or two. If it’s not thick enough add the rest. I think sometimes a can will have more broth so it takes some adjusting. The butter adds richness and the flour thickens it.

This method gives me a sauce much more like when I make homemade. Straight out of the can it’s like plain broth.

Corey’s pulled pork

I debated on the rating, many people would probably rate this higher. But I’m from Memphis and have eaten in the restaurant and this doesn’t really compare. But it’s a frozen dinner and I don’t live there anymore so this is as close as I’m gonna get! First off, there’s a lot of food. The pork is good and there’s no fat or funny bits. The beans and apples were also good. I got it at Walmart and I think the price was $5.27. Next time I will probably make a sandwich with the meat and add some coleslaw and really feel like I’m back in TN.

Steak fingers

I have posted in a while because I hadn’t found anything worth post. But now I have something! These steak fingers are like chicken fried steak. It comes with a mix for the pepper gravy. They’re very easy 7 minutes in air fryer and a quick mix for the gravy. They are one of my go to’s when I want a quick meal.
