White coat?
How do you guys keep your Bichons so white. Ours always ends up just looking beige and dirty lol. Even though we bath him regularly and he has regular grooms around every 6 weeks. Any suggestions/help is much appreciated

Both of them are girls, left one is 9/yo Buttbutt and right one is 7/yo Beanie (the names are supposedly in Chinese and it’s my mom who named them, I just translated the names for convenience)
Buttbutt is purely a bichon, while Beanie is mostly bichon but is mixed with poodle and pekingese ancestry, possibly why she’s not quite bright and my whole house would affectionately call her dumb (she is quite dumb, but still my baby nonetheless)
Kibi (first, second) and Kewpie (third, fourth) just got their last cut for summer. Looking sharp and feeling silly!
No, Lucy hasn’t been playing with makeup.
She’s been enjoying a juicy veal bone. 😎
My sweet Teddy, a 10-year-old Bichon Frise, died from hemangiosarcoma on August 6th, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around how quickly everything happened.
Back in May, we noticed a small dark/black spot on his skin. It grew larger over the next couple of months and eventually started bleeding and bothering him. Then, just two days before he was scheduled to have it removed, another dark spot suddenly appeared on his belly. Both were removed on July 31st.
Only one** week later, Teddy suddenly became extremely sick. He could barely stand, and we rushed him to the vet. They found that he was bleeding internally from what they believed was splenic **hemangiosarcoma. We had to euthanize him that day. The 10k surgery might have only prolonged his life a month, and a painful month at that.
It’s so hard to comprehend that it seemed to show itself externally on his skin and then, within such a short period of time, we discovered it internally too. He had seemed like such a happy, active little dog not long before.
I keep reading that hemangiosarcoma is much more commonly associated with large breeds, so I’m wondering if any other Bichon owners here have experienced this. Did your Bichon have cutaneous/skin tumors as well as internal hemangiosarcoma? Teddy was only 10, and I truly thought I had 5-8 more years left with him. 💔
I’ve noticed subtle behavioral changes in my 11 year old boy. For one, he’s been pooping on concrete instead of the grass more frequently. At first, I thought it was just because the grass was wet and he didn’t like that feeling. But lately when he goes on the grass, it seems it takes him a while to get his footing/balance (my fiancée and I say that he’s connecting to WiFi 😅)
We also have hardwood floors at our place and it seems like he is slipping more frequently. It’s subtle but I notice it
Anyway I just hope it’s not neurological. I am definitely way more paranoid than my fiancée with these kinds of things. We both have also accepted that he technically is a senior boy now and this is unfortunately when medical issues start to arise
Just posting in case anyone has had similar experiences. Besides this, he’s acting like himself, albeit sometimes a little more anxious
This is the first dog I’ve had that runs up stairs instead of bunny hopping each step. Funny enough, he’ll bunny hop each step when coming down.

I think this sequence of pictures of Chloe is so funny, I had to share. The second picture was taken while she was in the middle of yawning.
I rescued my baby boy Brucey (8 months old) a few months ago, and although he can be a menace, I can’t imagine life without him now 💙🐶
This was that hardest decision I’ve ever had to make. We had been inseparable since February 2010. She was born on Monday 12/21/2009 on my 9th birthday. I named her Monday because of that. Ever since I could talk i BEGGED for a dog. I didn’t care what kind, age, anything. I just knew i wanted a dog more than anything. Because of all my allergies to the various pets my parents tried to satisfy me with before her and i had to give away after developing allergies for the, they settled on a bichon for the hair type and low allergens.
Taking care of her is all i know. and it’s absolutely devastating trying to go through my day without her there. She had many health issues and in that last week I could see that the medications she was on weren’t going to be able to make her comfortable any longer. In her last 3 days her breathing became more laborious and I just couldn’t let her suffer and risk her having a medical emergency. She had and was medicated for seizures, cushings, heart murmur/enlarged heart, and arthritis. I’m so grateful that despite all of her issues she could still have a great last day. She was so strong, stubborn, spunky, and an absolute fiend for fruit and pizza. She got an extra special slice on her last morning. She was truly the coolest. Rest well my baby🩷
