Android + mDNS / . local domains

Per the title - how the heck do i get local domains to resolve?

I am using the VPN app - when not connected all is fine. Turn on the app, no .local domains resolve anymore. I can't find any sort of setting related to mDNS, DNS server, etc. Does the VPN force DNS to go to some name server outside of what my gateway is broadcasting?

We had a home inspection done this week on a home we are looking to buy.

The inspector said overall, it was one of the cleanest homes he's looked at. Some minor things I'm not super worried about, a weekend of handywork sort off situation.

One thing though, an addition they had done seems to have some weird choices made. It added about 50sq ft footprint, with foundation, so the old foundation now divides the crawlspace on one side. They seem to have dug out under this existing foundation in a few spots as a part of the addition. One is supported by some sort of steel jack. The other two spans are unsupported. One is clearly to run some HVAC (the addition enlarged a room, so this reaches to a far corner. Separate HVAC for the addition). The others, I'm not really sure?

Remodel was done 2016/17. No signs of sagging or cracking.

He said it's not really his place to comment on codes, stability, etc - needs an engineer. Just wondering how much of a red flag this is - should I go look up permits to see if this was to plan? should we ask for a concession to remediate? Is this even up to most building codes?

Sorry I don't have better photos, had a short time to run around with the inspector. Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

Hey! bought my first outback from a dealer in January, a 2024 Onyx edition purchased from autonation in Colorado. It was my first time buying a car from a dealership and I wouldn't say I was particularly impressed but the car was very low mileage and was previously a dealer loaner so I figured I couldn't end up too bad.

I just noticed this gap at the base of the windshield, it looks like maybe the windshield has been replaced and this was properly reinstalled? There is maybe one clip I can see that looks busted but a little hard to say, it's very difficult to get a good angle on. I've tried just pushing it down and I can't seem to get it to snap into place.

I'm wondering if this is much of a big deal and if I might have any recourse at the dealer? due to how the wipers sit, this would have been just about impossible to catch at purchase time. I live in a somewhat dry climate but we do get a good bit of snow so I'd like to make sure that I'm not exposing the car to unnecessary water ingress, etc.

thanks in advance for any advice!
