Get in your water

Went to ER yesterday for fluids. Thought 64 oz was enough, guess not. Make sure you get your water in especially since it’s getting hot!

Clothes feel tight on gastric sleeve?

I’m 11 days post op and I noticed that my pants and bra band make my stomach feel full and kinda uncomfortable, they’re the same clothes I wore 40 pounds heavier so I don’t think tightness is a factor. I saw a post before asking about something similar but I never found it. Anyone have that?

Moving on to food!

Had my doctor’s appointment yesterday and he cleared me to start having some food.

My first food was tuna and some mayo. I finished about 1.5 ounces and was full. This morning I had an egg and did well with that.

I set alarms on my phone when to stop drinking water(30 minute before) and when to eat when to start drinking water (30 minutes after). I have a bite timer that was posted here to use while I’m eating.

Just taking things slow and cautiously so I’m happy and my tummy is happy.

Stress effect healing?

Hi,
I had a stressful situation happen last night and my stomach started to hurt. (It was nothing physically stressful, just mentally upsetting. )Then this morning it was still hurting. Not super bad, just noticeably upset, felt sour. I had surgery Monday 6/15, and up until today I felt absolutely great with my stomach. Could stress have activated something or could it have been how I slept, something else?

5 days out from surgery

Each day keeps getting better and better. I’m thankful that God provided me with such an amazing surgeon and the timing was truly right. I worked on my mental health for a long time and really changed my perspective on food in general. I got to my daily shake goal and I’m very close to my water goal for the day. My tummy and I are friends now instead of enemies and things are falling into place.

4 days post op

It’s getting easier day by day. I found that marching in place after I drink an ounce of a protein shake has helped with getting it down. A heating pad to place between my shoulder blades has helped a lot too with any discomfort.

Today’s the day!

After looking into surgery since 2018, attempting to get it twice, today is the day. Thanks for all the support, reassurance, and help this community has given.

VSG pre-op journal 3 of 3

Week of June 7 2026
Day 14 weight 318.2
Eating or should I say “eating” is getting boring, I honestly don’t feel like eating lately. It’s the same old same old. I’m not hungry anymore and I’m not tempted by food.
Day 15 weight 316.4
This morning I felt old, like my skin looks older than it has and my hair is getting thinner. I wonder if Rogaine for women really works and if there are side effects. I might look into it more.
Day 16 weight 316.4
Feeling much better energy wise. Getting more motivated to get things done, I’m feeling less stressed and more excited.
Day 17 weight 316
Energy is back up, it seemed like the turning point for my energy was to actually doing more even though I was so exhausted. Started losing track of days because this pre-op diet has become more of a lifestyle change. Talk to doctor about constipation, they said it is common and normal on this diet. Asked about an enema, and if it would affect surgery, they said no. So I did it for the first time in my life and it worked great.
Day 18 weight 315.2
Still plugging along on this diet. I would suggest mints or gum in the pre-op stage if your diet is this strict because your breath will smell.
Day 19 weight 315
Getting some nerves today and last night. My thought keeps coming back, should I really try on my own without surgery? But I know myself, if I gave up now, the first thing I would do is eat food I couldn’t for the last 19 days and tell myself I’ll start tomorrow. I know myself well enough to know I need this to change my life because I am extremely compliant with medical orders.
Day 20 weight 314
Beautiful day today, I feel peaceful. This is my time to do something for myself. Take back my health, get to 175. I want to be physically and mentally healthy.
Day 21 weight 312.6
Last day of pre-op diet. I did not cheat once, though I was tempted like crazy, I didn’t do it. Not a taste, not a bite, not a lick. It makes me feel so grateful, like I really can do hard things. So thankful for the prayers and truly thankful for God’s help.

Work breakfast

Hi all I’m planning a work breakfast and a few people have gastric sleeve. What do you think would make some good continental breakfast options for everyone?

VSG Daily Pre-Op Journal 2 of 3

Week two May 31, 2026
Day 7: weight 322.6
Feeling kinda constipated today, energy is still low, maybe eventually it will bounce back.
Day 8: weight 321
Man, I am so sick of this liquid diet. I am stomach hungry, and head hungry. I was thinking today, how I would like to eat some barbecue, but I won’t cheat. I will follow the rules because I want to change my life. It got a little better as the day went on, didn’t have a headache, the sugar free popsicles really helped.
Day 9: weight 319.6
My joints feel a lot better. Putting on my pants my hips didn’t hurt and my feet feel better. I slept pretty well last night. I didn’t toss and turn as much. Pretty constipated, I can go, but it’s like pebbles.Had a lot of anxiety today about the long term consequences. A lot of what if fears.
Day 10: Weight 319.2
Putting on my pants in the morning is a lot less hard now, my hips aren’t hurting like they normally do. Overall though my muscles have a feeling of weakness, like I went to the gym.
Day 11 weight 318.6
Not a lot different same old routine, but I am a lot hungrier today and my muscles still feel fatigued. Started taking benefiber yesterday, doesn’t seem to help too much.
Day 12 weight 319
Weird my weight has gone up, I haven’t cheated at all. I added some fiber to my diet but that’s it. Haven’t really been pooping. I feel backed up. I’m going to try to switch up my shakes. Ok I hate the shakes from the weightloss clinic go I’m going to add fiber to the premier ones, after talking to my nutritionist. In the shower I noticed my hair was falling out a lot. Guess the hair loss is starting to, sucks.
Day 13 weight 318
Still on the diet, still haven’t cheated. I do feel constipated though. I went from going twice a day normally to barely once a day. I started taking benefiber, and I did have some miralax. I guess I should switch to a higher fiber shake from the doctor’s office but they aren’t great, but the premier protein shakes are essentially no fiber.

Boredom ?

So, I realized a large part of my life’s entertainment is food. Fast-food, restaurants etc. what do you do as something to do where food isn’t the focus?

Need your perspective please

I just need a little help because I freak out. I think it is stemming from getting a text from the corporation who makes zepbound, saying that Medicare will start to cover the shot. I’m not on Medicare etc, but when Medicare covers it, it’s a good chance it will start to be covered by regular insurance.
I just need some reassurance that I’m not crazy for getting gastric sleeve done and not doing a glp-1 first. I’m two weeks away, and this is about the time I freak out and second guess everything and quit.

“Enlisting” buddies

I start my 21 day pre-op diet Monday (liquids), VSG surgery June 15th. Anyone going through the same scenario and want to be weight-loss buddies?

Noisy camping neighbors

I find that in state parks when camping there are always so many noisy neighbors and I just don’t get it. Why go in the woods to blast music? Isn’t it about getting away and having some peace and quiet? Maybe I should adjust my expectations?
