TX - great little lakeside trip

Love this thing. Had a great shady site on the lake. Despite temps being 100°F feels like 108, felt great at our site and even had all the windows open first day.

New purchase not pictured... Got a fish cleaning table and ran a water hose to it. Had a nice outdoor area under some of the trees to wash dishes and hands. Finally dialing in all of the equipment we like having for a seamless time

P. auratus, Sunshine 🌞

Feeling good after a dehydration scare a few days ago.

Her golds are always so pretty. Pics don't do this kind justice.

Positive story : tarantula ICU

Noticed my Phormictopus auratus in a partial death curl yesterday and struggling to stand. She molted a month or two ago but hadn't eaten since . Ive had her 6.5 years and she's never been a poor eater. I was recently on a vacation and I think her enclosure got too dry (her spot gets a lot of sun from the window and we had some 100 degree days) . My other ones were all moist but her enclosure was dry - I feel terrible about this and have since moved her spot.

I tried submerging her mouth parts in her water dish but she was too weak and either kept partial death curling/sinking into it (book lungs included, not just drinking) or she'd turn away and go hide and start to death curl up. When shed walk her left legs in particular kept dragging upside down a bit since they were curling in. Never thought I'd need to try it , but built the tarantula ICU . Within a few hours she perked up a lot.. and this morning she even took out a cricket in there. Back to her regular enclosure later today. :) thank goodness caught it in time and just a good reminder to watch your moisture as we move to hotter weather. (Her water dish had been knocked over too). I have been taking care of these guys for 8 years and never had something like this so it was scary , but I'm glad she's ok !
