15 Days & 1,800 Miles

Family camp trip for 2 weeks. 4Runner and the pop up took great care of us and our dogs. Crossed the continental divide twice, too! Went from Portland area to Flathead Lake, southern Canadian Rockies, home through central WA.

Mini-rebuild after some water damage

Only wanted to fix a little interior panel that I thought I didn’t match the door when it rained and was the issue…. Nope. as I pulled back more and more issues. Had to rebuild the whole front storage box, replace some of the sub floor, put new flooring in, reskinned the interior cabinetry, replaced some of the exterior shell, flashing all over the place. Lots of places still need work to be better flashed and I want to redo the roof seams. Still need to paint the interior and stain the countertops I put in. Work in progress. It’s been damn hot outside and I was up against a clock to get it out for the fourth weekend when o started this last weekend.

how can i fix this slide rail so its straight?

Hi all, new pop up camper owner and I'm loving it but I could use some ideas. As you can see from the picture the wood piece attached to the rail is coming apart from the wall. this is the second wood piece that ive tried. Im wondering if i use a bolt and washer on the exterior and interior, or if someone has engineered something better? any ideas?

Wiring question

Hello, I'm kind of a newbie since my last RV was parked on a piece of land for 10 years and consisted of slipping on a black wire and a red wire and that was that.

This is a new to me popup and I'm struggling with the wiring (see pics). When I hook up the pos and neg cables, I still don't seem to have power to the trailer (no lights or anything work). The wires are jumbled and spliced because the trailer came with a portable solar panel as well, so there are more wires here than I'm used to (the little 2/prong wire goes into the solar panel). I tested the 2 fuses on the red wires and they're good.

What am I missing? Like I said my last trailer was 29.5 foot with all the bells and whistles, and because I wasn't towing it all I had to do each weekend was connect 1 pos and 1 neg wire and I was good to go.

Side note I also don't seem to have a breakaway cable for the brakes... shouldn't there be one? It's a StarCraft 8-way connector and I'll be using a 40025 adapter to my 7-blade TV connection. But there's no breakaway cable.

Any help appreciated. I'll probably hire a mobile RV tech to come out and go over everything with me and check over all the appliances etc., but if I can get a head start on a few of the easier things, that would be great.

First trip! 2005 jayco baja

We took our new-to-us pop-up out for its first trip and it was awesome. I've been a tent-camper my whole life and never used a tent trailer so prior to buying one I kind of thought of them as tents on wheels with nicer beds - so the propane fridge and battery-powered lights were an unexpected luxury to me! (The majority of our camping would be in rustic/unserviced sites). Our region has a ton of mosquitos so it was really nice to have somewhere to chill when they got bad in the evening but still feel like we were outdoors, with all the window covers down to just screen.

Renting a Pop-Up Camper in Buffalo NY.

Hi everyone! My husband and I stay at Allegany State Park every summer, usually in one of the electric cabins. We'd love to camp more often, but cabins are expensive and we can only afford one week each year. I'm not comfortable sleeping in a regular tent, so we're wondering if a popup camper might be the perfect middle ground.

Before we consider buying one, we'd love to rent one for a few days or a week at the end of July to see if it's something we'd enjoy. We'd be staying at Allegany State Park and would treat your camper with great care. If anyone rents out their popup camper or knows someone who does, please let me know. Thank you!

Battery operated LP/CO detector?

My husband and I are planning to use the propane for our 2018 Flagstaff 206ltd pop-up camper during our next trip in August. We're going to test out the detector in the camper first, but my husband mentioned getting a portable, battery operated one as insurance. Has anyone here heard of such a thing, and if so could you share a link or some info? Thanks in advance!

Looking to buy my first pop up!

After months of searching, this 2010 Coleman Niagara might be the one I plunk my hard-earned savings on. Does anyone have this particular pop up and would be willing to share the good, bad & ugly?

Would be towing with a 2023 Silverado 1500 w/trailering package, most of the camping I do is in the Ozarks -lots of hills and windy back roads to get to campsites. Any advice on the towability of a larger pop up like this with a 1/2 ton truck? What are must haves? Wastes of money?

I've never owned a camper before, is this one a fit woman in her early 40s could manage solo?

Gimme all the tips, tricks and advice please!

Thank you in advance!

Day 1 of floor replacement

She was a hot one today!

I’m not even going to bother with the right side, it’s mint and dry.

To be continued tomorrow

What are some of the best accessories you guys have?

Title is basically it. Looking for little things to add to improve our experience. We don't have any exterior storage, no slide out, no indoor toilet. We use a 5 gallon bucket toilet setup in a pop-up shower tent right now, would really love some ideas to upgrade that! I see a lot of people with those collapsible shelves that hang from the ceiling, would love things like that to free up counter space. Thanks!

TX - great little lakeside trip

Love this thing. Had a great shady site on the lake. Despite temps being 100°F feels like 108, felt great at our site and even had all the windows open first day.

New purchase not pictured... Got a fish cleaning table and ran a water hose to it. Had a nice outdoor area under some of the trees to wash dishes and hands. Finally dialing in all of the equipment we like having for a seamless time

Lift arm / a/c help

Well - at the end (thankfully) of our week things went south. The AC had been on the fritz but worked well till last night. Woke up to a screeching noise sounding like the blower. The fan/cold air isn’t blowing out the vents. Then the leak started (picture). Last weekend I took the case off and cleaned the coils. There’s nowhere to recharge it. Had my cousin who’s an HVAC guy come take a look. It worked fine after we cleaned it up and four days this week - then back to what it was doing before.

This morning as we were packing up the right rear lift arm collapsed. Can’t lift the roof anymore - as shown.

Any thoughts on repairs and/or cost of repairs?

Edit to add: We bought the camper used last year and have gone out around 10 times. It was our foray into the RV life. Last night, before all this happened, we were looking at hard shells to upgrade and make life a bit easier. Is it worth repairing or should we trade it in and use the money towards something else?

The camper is a 2008 Fleetwood Niagara

Looking to buy first popup

My wife and I are interested in buying a popup. We have never owned one before and don’t really know what we are looking at or what’s good. We have two kids 4 and under and another one on the way due in the winter. We were looking at this specific one so my questions are; general thought? Is this a good deal? Would it be a good fit and spacious enough for a young family our size? Should we not even consider buying one because trying to do this with young kids is insane? Thanks in advance!

I'm considering a pop-up and have two questions for you

Q1: Did you tent camp before owning your pop-up and if so, do you find yourself camping more frequently or for longer durations with the pop-up?

Q2: Has anyone here tried hauling a very small pop-up with a minivan (mine is 2015 Sienna, which has a basic tow prep package)? I'm concerned about tongue weight specifically even with a 1400 pound (dry) pop up. Should I avoid doing this? I'm a little concerned also about the hitch, as it is an after-market with 2 inch uhaul receiver - it runs just under the bumper and at the wrong aggressive angle, I can grind it on pavement in reverse.

Thanks!

Tips of fixing floor please

I am going to attempt fixing the floor where I’ve drawn on my two photos.

I’m going to attempt to delete the toilet in the corner , remove the storage cabinet and remove long bench and redo that section of the floor. The floor under the fridge/stove is solid and I don’t feel like messing with that at the moment.

Any tips for me would be gladly appreciated.

Pop up not popping up?

Pulled into our campsite tonight, unhitched, unclipped and, leveled the trailer then hit the button to raise the top. I hear the motor whirring but nothing goes up. For an hour hubby and I try to troubleshoot the issue. Check that nothing is stuck, everything’s unclipped etc. etc. and still nothing happens. Ended up hitching up again and finding a hotel for the night. Why is this happening?
