Red Mural Musings
Hey team!
So I was doing some investigating in CodeWalker of areas of the map not usually accessible in Single Player and a couple of things stood out to me. Nothing super exciting but I'm interested in your thoughts on and if it stirs any other ideas with you. Apologies if these have come up before - I tried searching but couldn't find anything...
Merryweather Dock: Daily Globe - Plans for deadly nuke plant
In the control room of the Merryweather dock is a Daily Globe prop with the headline My exploding hooters ruined our honeymoon, but more interestingly the byline Plans for deadly nuke plant.
Why I think this might be important: This Daily Globe prop doesn't seem as common as the one with the Aliens ate my giant pussy headline, nor the folded up prop.
This headline could be what the Globe symbol on the Red DDM is relating to and gives us a link between the Globe symbol and the nuclear symbol on the DDM. It also gives a potential link to the Cliffford dots on the Red DDM as we know Cliffford controls the Chiliad Launch Facility.
The only tenuous link I've come up for regarding the Red DDM previously is the atom -> nuclear symbol, potentially relating to the Up 'n' Atom and radioactive rocket next to it, but this feels like a stronger link to me?
What I think this could mean: Possibly the Red DDM EE is Online and related to the Doomsday Heist mission and some kind of secret ending? I know others have suggested this in the past.
Or that it might somehow (???) be possible to access the Launch Facility in Single Player?
Lester's House - Zombie Outbreaks Storage Box
On the shelf in Lester's room is a red storage box labelled 'ZOMBIE OUTBREAKS'.
Why I think this is important: This might not seem like much at first glance until you consider there is a GREEN storage box in Lester's labelled BIGFOOT
What I think this could mean: A common point here is that there can't be anything left hiding in game because data miners would have found it. I tend to agree with that but think hiding some code that reuses assets and other function / routines in the code would be much easier to hide / obfuscate.
What if there is a single player zombie scenario? It could reuse Graham's model and Trevor's rampages? I.e. the only thing R* would have to hide is a rampage trigger that spawns Graham's?
Lester's House - Oscilloscopes
On the same shelf as the red storage box are two oscilloscopes.
Why I think this is important: One has a low frequency sine wave, similar to that on the Red DDM. The other has a high frequency sine wave, similar to that on the Yellow DDM.
I also remember reading before somebody here suggest that the Red DDM 'sound clue' could also be heard at Lester's house? Another link between Red DDM and Lester?
What I think this could mean: I'm not sure how Lester could possibly be involved in any DDM related Easter Eggs, so perhaps this is just a nudge to look for other clues in Lester's house to find the next step?
EDIT: The thing that jumped out at me was the low frequency oscilloscope is on the same shelf as the red storage box, which is a strange coincidence...
And made me wonder if we should be looking at the things on the shelf with the high frequency oscilloscope in relation to the yellow mural? Such as the signal scrambler (lots of signal / transmission references on yellow DDM)..
Things that bug me most about the Red DDM:
- What is the symbol in the top left? Seems like a top-down view of something but what?
- Fountains?
- The UFOs and some other random things?
- Water treatment works?
- The round buildings downtown?
- ????
- What is the 'groove' item?
- Rack from a rack-and-pinion system? But why is the spacing uneven and why is it open at one end?
- ????
