I’m assuming it’s a fungal infection? I sprayed once with a sulfur spray I have for my fruit trees but didn’t seem to do much

I planted a 2’x7’ bed of corn. Surrounded it with 2’ tall chicken wire. Left it kinda loose to stop anything climbing it. Something got in and nibbled most of the corn off at the base (but didn’t consume it - just left the tops behind). I then planted a bit more (some continued growin after the original attack) and this time put 1’ tall metal mesh collars around each plant. And something still got in and nibbled two plants!

We have squirrels, rabbits, etc. I’m at a bit of a loss - would suspect the rabbits but I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t jump inside such a small contained area. But I wouldn’t have thought squirrels would bother that high up on a plant.
