30F, around ₱500k in debt. Ilang days pa lang akong overdue sa OLAs and they’re already posting me publicly and threatening to contact our barangay

30F here. I work remotely, I have multiple clients, and breadwinner din ako sa bahay. Ako mostly ang nagbabayad ng groceries, electricity, internet, insurance, and other household expenses.
On paper, okay naman talaga income ko.
So if you're wondering paano ako umabot sa around ₱500k worth of debt, trust me, ako rin.
Hindi siya nagsimula because I was living some extravagant lifestyle.
Earlier this year, may project kami sa rental property namin na akala ko around ₱50k lang ang magagastos. Eventually, umabot siya ng almost ₱200k. May ibang expenses pa on top of that, and somewhere along the way, I started using online lending apps para punan yung shortfalls.
At first, manageable pa.
Then eventually:
May due today → borrow para mabayaran.
Pay one OLA → reloan immediately.
Use the reloan → pambayad sa next OLA.
Then another.
Then another.
Tapal system.
Hanggang sa halos dumadaan na lang yung sweldo ko sa account ko before going straight back to lenders.
One day, nilista ko lahat.
Doon ko narealize how bad it had become.
Around ₱500k all in all.
And ang frustrating part is hindi naman ako nakabili ng ₱500k worth of things.
A huge portion of that money basically just circulated between lenders—plus interest, fees, and repeated borrowing—while I desperately tried to keep every account from becoming overdue.
Eventually, narealize ko:
If I keep doing this just because takot akong ma-overdue, hindi talaga ako makakaahon.
So I stopped the tapal system.
May mga loans na akong naclose and once closed, hindi ko na nire-reloan.
And yes, because I can no longer magically keep everything current at the same time, may mga accounts na ngayon na overdue.
But here's what I really want to emphasize:
Ilang DAYS pa lang akong overdue.
Not months.
Hindi pa nga weeks yung iba.
And I am NOT ignoring the lenders.
I've already communicated with them.
I've reached out regarding repayment options, restructuring, and possible payment arrangements because I want to find something sustainable that I can actually follow.
I'm working.
I have income.
I'm not saying I won't pay.
I'm not disappearing.
I'm literally trying to negotiate a way to pay them without going back into the same tapal system that created this mess.
Pero despite that, grabe yung escalation ng harassment.
First, they started commenting on my friends' Facebook posts.
May nagla-like ng posts.
May nagme-message sa ibang people connected to me.
Then today, may Facebook page where I had previously been invited as a guest.
They were having a CURRENT livestream today.
I wasn't part of the livestream.
Wala ako doon.
Wala akong connection sa topic nila.
And yet somehow, may collector na nakahanap ng page and started spamming their current live comments about me.
At first natawa pa ako.
Like…
How did you even end up THERE?
😭
But now it escalated again.
I received an email containing a photo showing that I had already been posted in a Facebook group.
And in the same situation, they're now saying they'll contact our barangay captain.
And honestly?
Doon medyo napagod na talaga ako.
Because again:
I have already communicated with them about repayment and restructuring.
I'm not refusing to pay.
I'm not telling them, “Wala akong pakialam, bahala kayo.”
I'm actively trying to resolve my debts.
So I don't understand why involving my friends, unrelated Facebook pages, public groups, and potentially our barangay is somehow necessary to discuss a private financial obligation.
I know I owe money.
I acknowledge that.
I made bad financial decisions.
I got trapped in the tapal system and let things snowball way beyond what I could sustainably handle.
That's on me.
But I genuinely don't think acknowledging my mistakes means I also have to accept being publicly humiliated.
And if I'm being completely honest, this whole thing is really starting to affect me.
Most of the time I joke about it.
“Hahahaha grabe sila.”
“Hahahaha pati diyan?”
“Hahahaha ngayon barangay naman?”
That's how I cope.
Pero I'd be lying if I said okay lang talaga ako.
Every time may bagong notification or email, there's that split second na naiisip ko:
“Saan na naman nila ako pinost?”
“Sino na naman kinontact nila?”
“Sino na naman nakakita?”
People keep telling me to screenshot everything and document everything.
And I understand why.
Pero minsan ayoko na ngang makita.
Sometimes taking screenshots makes it feel even more real.
Yung email ngayon, sila na mismo nag-send sakin ng picture showing that I was posted somewhere.
Part of me just wants to stop looking altogether.
And probably the hardest part?
Most people in my real life don't know the full extent of what I'm going through.
My mom knows about the financial situation.
But there are still people very close to me who don't know.
So I still go to work.
I talk normally.
I joke around.
I play games.
I laugh.
I say I'm okay.
And somewhere in between all of that, I'm trying to figure out how to clean up almost half a million pesos worth of financial mistakes while collectors are showing up in random corners of my online life.
I think that's really why I'm posting here.
I just need somebody else to know.
And I really want to hear from people who have actually gone through something similar—especially those who reached ₱400k, ₱500k, ₱600k+ because of OLAs and the tapal system.
Ganito rin ba kalala during your first few days/weeks overdue?
Did they contact your friends?
Did they comment on other people's posts?
Did they post you in Facebook groups?
Did they threaten to contact your barangay?
Did anyone actually contact your barangay, and what happened?
How long did the worst harassment last?
Humupa rin ba eventually?
And pinakaimportante:
Nakalabas ba kayo?
I don't need anyone to tell me:
“Eh bakit ka kasi umutang?”
“Kasalanan mo yan.”
“Bayaran mo kasi.”
I know I need to pay.
I already know I messed up.
And believe me, I've already been much harsher on myself than any random Reddit comment could ever be.
What I'm trying to do now is different.
No more tapal.
Keep working.
Protect my source of income and basic necessities.
Communicate with lenders about restructuring/payment arrangements.
Pay accounts down strategically.
Close them one by one.
Once closed, never reloan.
Accept na hindi ako magically magkakaroon ng ₱500k overnight.
And somehow continue living my life while I slowly fix this.
Maybe I just need to hear from somebody who's already been on the other side and can tell me:
“Oo. Naranasan ko rin yan. Kinontact din nila ibang tao. Pinost din ako. Natakot din ako. Pero humupa rin. Nakabayad din ako. Nakaahon din ako.”
Because right now, ilang araw pa lang akong overdue and I already feel exhausted.
I'm trying really hard to be strong.
But I'd be lying if I said this isn't bothering me.
