[IRTR] Superhero-focused podcast looking for guests to discuss movies, comics, TV

  • Name of Podcast: Superhero Cinephiles
  • NSFW (or SFW): Semi-NSFW. There's some casual swearing and depending on the movie/comic/TV show, possibly some discussion of sensitive matters.
  • How many episodes have you published? (How long have you been doing this?): Been doing this since 2019, over 200 episodes.
  • Link to Website Or Podcast Feed (don't use link shorteners): https://superherocinephiles.com
  • [Genre] - Topics Discussed: Superhero movies, TV shows, and comic books
  • Approx Length of Episodes: Most episodes run 60-90 minutes, though some have gone longer if we have a lot to say.

I'm putting a call out for new guests for the Superhero Cinephiles podcast. The main focus of the show is superhero movies, but we also discuss TV shows on occasion and lately, we've started a companion show on the same feed called Superhero Bibliophiles where we discuss comics and graphic novels.

Movies and comics are preferred. Because of the longer commitment for TV shows (a standard 22-episode season might need more than one episode), I tend to keep those reserved for returning guests.

I don't always check Reddit, so If you'd like to come on, the best way is through the contact form. You'll find all the guidelines there and a link to a list of stuff that hasn't yet been covered on the show.

Anyone affiliated with or supportive of ComicsGate or similar movements is not welcome.

Japan On Film roundup

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with these releases, but if you've missed out, here are some of the recent Japan On Film episodes:

Episode #115 (S14E06) – Yakuza Apocalypse (2015) [極道大戦争]

This season, we're covering two of Takashi Miike's films. And in this episode, Japanese film expert and returning guest Jennifer Upton is here to discuss the very bizarre Yakuza Apocalypse.

Episode #116 (S14E07) – The Hidden Fortress (1958) [隠し砦の三悪人]

In this episode, Perry is joined by fellow podcaster Jim Cannon to discuss Akira Kurosawa's 1958 film, The Hidden Fortress and its influence on George Lucas and Star Wars.

Episode #117 (S14E08) – Memories of Matsuko (2006) [嫌われ松子の一生]

This episode, Perry is joined by podcaster, game designer, and returning guest KJ Brown to discuss the vibrantly depressing Memories of Matsuko.

Episode #118 (S14E09) – The Emperor in August (2015) [日本のいちばん長い日]

Japanese film scholar Patrick Terry returns to the show to discuss The Emperor in August and the historical context around Japan's surrender at the end of WW2 and what the film spotlights and leaves out.

One episode to go in the season. And since I'm not the most reliable when it comes to sharing these, you can automatically get new episodes by subscribing in your podcast app of choice.
