my boring old Merrill Edge account could actually be... a good thing?
I’ve had a Merrill Edge account for years. During COVID I opened accounts at Schwab and shortly after at Robinhood because of the hype, spare time, free trades, and FOMO. I figured I’d trade more actively and take advantage of the fancier platforms. Five years later, my Merrill Edge account has actually performed noticeably better than the other two. I’ve always heard the saying “good investing is boring investing,” but I’m starting to think Merrill Edge being outdated and clunky might actually be a feature and not a bug working on their clients' benrfit,. at least on mine.
At this point, I’m probably just going to hand it over to an advisor (leaning toward Schwab) and step back from managing it myself.
