Does micromanagement get more important at higher prestige levels?

So far I've been unable to get past P15. The impatience always gets me first.

A big issue I'm having is unhappy villagers, and their leaving is adding to the impatience. If I'm short on fuel to sacrifice during a storm I'm scrambling to put them wherever they're comfortable or where there are rain engines with resolve buffs (IF I have or if I remember).

I'm hoping that with better strategies this is something I won't need to do as often - I really dislike it and it feels tedious to me to be switching people constantly when it's not for production purposes. It feels kind of cheap to dump three lizards at the blight post if they won't be doing anything, or beavers on an unbuilt mine just for the resolve bonus.

Are there things you forget to do, or just don’t get to before completing your settlement?

I’ve only ever built the commons at the hearth once. I always forget it’s even an option. Sometimes I keep service goods with the idea that “maybe I’ll get the building where I can use it later.” 😅

I just got to P14 last night and I’ve only built the altar twice. And I’ve forgotten to build the queen’s tower probably half the time in the seal forests.

In a lot of my games I might have a rain engine in one building by the end, and sometimes none. Usually I’m scrambling to do all these other things and it falls by the wayside.

What ways do you play that go against the conventional strategies?

I notice people have said not to open small glades. I open any and all glades around me. Part of the fun of these kinds of games for me is the resource aspect - and I want EVERY resource I can possibly get.

I also take as many villagers as possible, because lots of villagers = getting lots of resources.

I know all this is a nightmare for hostility levels. But I'd rather figure out strategies to get around that and play the game the way I want to.

I'm sure things could change as I progress, where I start to have no choice... I'm at P8 right now and I just had quite a surprise when something like 15 villagers got killed due to hostility 7 during a storm, I think it was. (...it was very convenient that I had the 10 gold per for each villager that left or died cornerstone...) But I'm going to keep playing this way for as long as I can!
