Giving birth alone?
I’m pregnant with our 5th, due in November, and just realized last night that I may be giving birth alone. We have 1 person (family) close that we can usually count on and it is who came over last time I was in labor at 11pm. Last time I drove myself to the hospital while in active labor because she was taking a while to get here (and I didn’t want to wake the other kids up because they all had the flu) and fortunately my husband got there in time to see the birth. However, we just discovered last night that she is planning to be in Key West around the time I’m probably going to have baby. I’ve never made it to my due date, always a week early (39+1, 39+2, 39+0, and 38+5)… and she’s set to be gone the week I hit 39 weeks. We’re in a bit of a panic because I don’t want to have to drive myself again but we don’t have anyone else we can call. Worst case is my husband and kids drive me and drop me off, but I really want my support person (my husband) there. My mom isn’t an option because she won’t keep my 2 year old (🙄) and won’t drive after dark. I don’t know what to do and just wanted to vent/hear others stories or solutions.
