What to do with bulk cards?
I like buying cards in lots, usually I find that the small number of valuable cards inside the lot are cheaper than if I just bought the valuable cards. Also I only started recently so there were a lot of cards i still needed that were common.
Now I have more common cards for certain sets than i know what to do with. They're basically worthless because they're from sets like Northern Lights, Ancient lights, and common baby Bella where any collector already likely has 20 as well. A good number of them aren't in mint condition. What do I do with them? Will this ever growing pile just live in my closet forever?
Why is Winter Festival so hard to find?
Some sets are easier to find than others, but for the most part they aren't impossible. I have a few of every set with the exception of the European only cards (which makes sense) and then there's winter festival. Even when I see a card on eBay which is super rare even the commons are like 25 dollars. Herds from North of North is a set later than that one and I have plenty of those I got at a very decent price. Did they just do an extremely small run of winter festival? Where are they all?
Is it crazy to not care much about foils or European versions? Trying not to care about completionism and just what brings me joy.
Maybe this is just a guy thing, but the foil thing just doesn't do much for me. I care much more about having one of every card/horse. Promos are awesome when they are unique. I don't care much about the European sets either except for the cards that are unique artworks. If it's just the same exact art with a different border or a bit more shine or a different size i don't really find myself caring all that much. There are a few foil cards i really like, but for most not nearly enough to spend the money on them. I think foils are only for my favorite cards.
I'm just focusing on the base cards for now. One of the things I liked about bella Sara when I was getting into it was that it was a stupid hobby. Nobody knows what the hell I'm talking about. The cards I wanted and was most nostalgic for (ancient lights, northern lights) were cheap, essentially worthless. I loved that they were worthless.
I want to collect to have fun and get unique pieces, not to spend hundreds for five different versions of the same art with different borders. No offense if you do really like them or you want all the foils and to have a complete set. In an ideal world i think I would, but with the prices things are at I can't bring myself to care that much.
I feel like I've lost a lot of joy in the hobby to the idea of completion. If i need to have every card to be happy, and there are cards worth thousands with only one or two in the world, then what is the point? I'm not spending that money. No way. I think completion is a fun idea, but much like getting 100% on some videogames, it can turn the hobby from a fun little collection to an expensive chore.
Anyone have a complete collection?
Does anyone know if someone has a complete collection of the cards? All commons, shinys, and promos? I'm sure someone has to be close.
Bought some (unrelated) trading cards from eBay and these came mixed in the lot. Anyone know what they are?
I don't know much about horses. At first I thought they were cards for race horses, but it doesn't seem like it's talking about racing. It almost seems like the cards are more of an advertisement for breeding? I couldn't find any of these exact cards anywhere on the internet. I'm sure it's because they're worthless, I'm just curious. I'll probably hang onto them just because I collect trading cards and they're kinda funny, I would like to know more about them though. Are these horses famous?
Does anyone remember Bella Sara cards? Ever see them now at your trading card store?
I started collecting these as a kid, and was super careful and in love with my little collection. Recently I have gotten back into them because they are super nostalgic and I wanted to collect something that wasn't pokemon, mtg, or some anime. They cards are incredibly lame and that's partially why I like them. Each card has an artwork of a horse or fantasy "horse" adjacent creature, and then an inspirational quote on the bottom. Some are much much better than others. There is no fighting, instead you used the cards to play games like go fish or old maid with modifications. The company only made them for a few years about 2007-2013 in the US, about 2 years before that in parts of Europe.
The cards were really big for a little while when I was a kid, I could buy packs and toys and even clothing at Walmart and target, but it seems the only people who remember them are people who were "horse girls" between the ages of 7-13 in that time period. I can't say I give a shit about horses anymore, as a kid I liked any animal, but the cards are very nostalgic. Now I always have to order them from ebay, and have never ever seen them in an antique or trading card store. There's a very small community of collectors that mostly also collected as kids. eBay prices are super inflated and I feel like if I could only find them at an antique store or trading card store the price would be much much more realistic since they're pretty much worthless outside of a group of about 1000 people worldwide buying and selling amongst each other.
If you remember them or have seen them at a store or show I would love to know. I was thinking of going to my first card show but I'm sure i would go home disappointed.
