Should i refuse on campus accommodation?

UPDATE : definitely no, thanks!!

Hi! I ve been accepted in a 1year MSc in Structural Engineering starting in September and I'm not sure how important it is to live close to campus (regarding workload, social life and sports)

I have booked a room a few months back at Point Campus (in the docks area, a 35min walk from TCD) because i thought I wouldn't be accepted for the on campus accommodation. I have already paid ~1300€ to book the room there, which im quite sure i cannot get refunded.

My rent at Point Campus is around 1450€/month.

The rent at Printing House (King room, only room available... 🤧💸) on campus would apparently be around 1219€/month, so 10 085€ until May 2027, but its still cheaper than Point Campus so it would compensate for the booking fee loss.

I'm satisfied with what the accommodations at Point Campus look like (two gyms, very important to me, apparently Trinity's is overcrowded) and i enjoy walking.

But I'm coming from France, so i do take into account that living at TCD might be better for going out, adapting to small details like grocery shopping, living close to friends etc. And I'm a 20yo woman so it might be safer not having to walk far at night? I do like saving money tho x)

What d you think?
