Apprentice Diesel Mechanic
Hi guys I’m currently waiting to hear back about the position of apprentice diesel mechanic from Union Pacific, I’m wondering if any of you guys have opinions about working for UP I’m currently a locomotive mechanic for a small shoreline railroad the hours are good but the coworkers aren’t great and the pay is barely better than fast food, if I’m offered the job it’ll require moving states and I’m wondering is it worth it? How are the hours? How is the home life/ work life balance? Will my life be consumed by working 12 hour shifts 5-6 days a week? Is working for UP as bad as some make out to be?
PS I’m married with no kids and rv full time so being mobile is easy for us.
