Headphone Recommendation for PC Use?

Hello.

USA Budget around $200 but preferably around $150

In like 2017 I purchased some ATH-M50X for $130 that I've used at my PC since then. They are cracked and physically beat to crap. But I don't mind the appearance, they sound great, and lately I've been using a Peace GUI + Equalizer APO with the Oratory 1990 thing and Apple DAC, they even sound slightly better.

I never really had an issue with them until in college I used Sony XM5's pretty much every where I went (I biked everywhere). They just sound wayyyy better. My only complaint is they rub on the tip of my ears after a while and are sorta tight.

Also, I do play some Rainbow Six Siege with my friend and without using Dolby Atmos / Windows Sonic for 'surround sound', the positioning is trash.

I mostly listen to Radiohead and The Rolling Stones. And Future sometimes.

I tried using a cable to connect the XM5 but they sound a lot worse, even with them turned on and trying to use the Oratory thing for em. Pretty sure it has something to do with 'internal DSP'. Can't stand the bluetooth latency.

So with all that in mind I think I should just upgrade. I am cool with Open Backs. I would prefer good cushioning on the ears.

I hear about the HD560S and the BT 990 Pro. But I wanna be sure I'm making right choice. Also I don't mind Chinese stuff if its good.

Chance me so I can tell my Mom its gonna be ok or it’s over

With this being said I’m trying to get into TMDSAS for the tuition costs, and I did submit primary in late July but I’m pre writing secondaries.

MCAT: CP CARS BB PS —> 128,126,124,130. 508.

AMCAS GPA: 3.77 , sGPA 3.68

TMDSAS GPA: 3.81, sGPA 3.72

This is rough calculation but I’m sure it falls somewhere between those two. ^^

Graduated a semester early UT Austin, Biology. Hispanic. Spanish-Speaking. Gap year

Experience Summary:
Clinical : 500, 400+ projected
Shadowing: 200
Research: 150
Non-clinical service: 350, 150+ projected
Employment / Leadership: 5000+
Entrepreneurship/ Other Meaningful Experience: 1000+

EC Context:
I do believe my experiences are slightly less traditional.

Majority of my clinical experience consists of two things : working in a house-turned-clinic to help provide care to undocumented and uninsured, where I served as a translator for the physicians and did patient intake. Working on a mobile clinic van that sets up throughout city to provide free vaccinations (similar community, lots of undocumented and uninsured). Direct patient contact in each, translating in each, etc.

Shadowing is in two sorta unique/competitive specialities: shadowing minimally invasive surgery, shadowing ENT facial reconstruction surgery. I was in OR for both, both are at notable Texas medical center institutions.

Non-medical Volunteering : Crisis text line (helping people with nobody else to turn to, often de-escalating suicidal situations), and
notably working in a jail - in the cell block, not at a desk - alongside social workers to help rehabilitate incarcerated military veterans..

Research: basically I was one of many students assisting in a longitudinal study on the psychological effects for youth who are a translator for their Spanish-speaking family. I did have a major role at a side project within the research working alongside students and helping them enjoy translating through games and friendly competition. But no publications and it’s not very fancy no long biological or chemical words lol.

Other things:
I started a (small) tallow soap business. Found a need in the market, sourced, figured out marketing, researched, etc.
I work as a tutor for middle + high school math and science. Independent. Grew it to 10+
I was secretary of a premed org in college.
A hobby of mine is I work on cars pretty extensively.
I worked 4000 hours or so at chickfila from 2020-2024. Promoted to trainer.
Received chickfila scholarship 4 times, each requiring separate application and nomination by managers.

High Ceiling, Low-Air Flow, One Small Vent in a Room With a Balcony.

Hello,

My room is hot, noticeably hotter than the hallway, and much hotter than my parents room.

The room has a balcony, and very high ceilings. From the balcony, gaps in the doors and under-door-draft air allow more heat from outside (Houston) to get inside.

I reduced this issue by installing that cheap weather-strip tape around the edges and a thicker type of the same thing for the bottom of the balcony doors.

But it's still an issue to some degree. When we had a freeze, years ago my memory foam mattress became a solid rock. It's not that bad anymore.

Anyway,

When I climb up to the top and get by the vent, it blows pretty cold and it's nice. But I don't think it blows hard enough, especially considering the high ceiling.

When I touch the AC, which is kept at 77F, my parents tell me they are freezing. Apparently, they have 3 vents, or maybe 4. And when I go in there, it is actually pretty cold. Also I'm pretty sure my dad has never cleaned the HVAC thing in his life, been living here 19 years.

Possible ideas:

Install a fan by the vent - kind of involved and expensive

Install a passive vent above my door to the hallway - sounds good but what if I'm talking freaky otp and everyone can hear me. Also hallway is cooler but not a crazy difference.

Curious about closing some of their vents or other solutions.
edit: forgot to mention i have two fans and air purifier. still hot.

Need Help Creating a Pull-Out Keyboard Tray with Extension in my Dresser.

I'm converting the middle drawer of my dresser into a pull-out keyboard tray so I can sit with my legs underneath it. The original idea was to stick a piece of long wood on top of my current drawer, but it sits too low (right above my knees) because its slides are mounted at the bottom of the cavity, and it wobbles a lot.

Side note, before anyone says it:

Yes, I considered getting rid of the dresser and buying a desk. Replacing it is equally involved; as it will be difficult to move out of the house (its been here 10 years, things have accumulated), and finding a new clothes-storage solution also costs. Fair idea though but I do have faith in this.

The basic pull-out tray isn't the hard part. I'll remove the drawer and its runners and mount heavy-duty drawer slides near the top of the cavity instead. The cavity is 20.5" wide, 17.5" deep, and 17 cm tall, so there's plenty of room for a sturdy keyboard tray that can even extend farther than the current cheap 16" drawer slides.

The real problem is width. The cavity is only about 20.5" (52 cm) wide, which isn't enough for a keyboard and mouse. I need the tray to somehow expand to the sides when pulled out, and condense to roll in.

I've thought about:

  • Fold-out wings with hinges (but then they need support underneath, and the tray sides are already occupied by the drawer slides).
  • A slide-out mouse extension underneath the main tray (seems more promising, but I'm not sure what the best way is to build or mount it).

Has anyone built something like this? I'm mainly looking for ways to make a pull-out keyboard tray expand to the left/right while still being sturdy enough to lean on comfortably. The sliding tray itself isn't the challenge really the expandable surface is.

How we lookin

k so basically my lower control arm was messed up on one side and this tire continued to either pop (side wall explosion once), lose tread rapidly, etc. but nobody was telling me it was the lower control arm or what, so the tires just kept absolutely burning tread. Anyway this is the last tire before I fixed the issue and replaced it. Wondering if this is insanely low
