Slime mold ID request
Hi folks, I’ve been growing orchids for many years, and recently while looking at the roots, I found these round structures suspended on stalks, which I believe are slime mold fruiting bodies. I tried as best as I could to get a clear picture, hopefully these are clear enough.
These orchids are native to Japan and Korea, and are grown in New Zealand sphagnum moss. They are watered thoroughly with reverse osmosis, and allowed to dry completely before watering again. I live in a very humid/cool microclimate near the San Diego coast. Any ideas where this slime mold may have come from, it’s ID, or if it’s even a slime mold?
Thanks in advance :)
