True Catalyst 9x3 vs Warrior Ritual G7 Pro
Hi guys, shopping for new pads. Tried on nearly every pad in the local hockey monkey. I liked True 9x3, and Warrior G7 Pro. The feel of the True is great rotation and it butterflies more square to the front. But, the flat boot and free ankle feel is throwing me off, and I noticed they can move up and down on my leg sometimes because there’s no boot straps.
The Warrior is double strapped to my skates and I have the familiar feeling of being attached to a flexible boot and my skate pulling the pad when I flex my foot or point my toes. And they don’t move up and down at all.
Third choice was probably Bauer SV Pro.
Coming from beat up TPS R6 that I bought for $200 15 years ago (so I don’t need much… playing men’s league 1x a week). Im 44 and I’m used to the locked in strapped down feel. I think the Warrior would be an easier transition right away. I don’t mind learning a new pad, but is the True going to require a whole new game or playing style, or does the flat boot/open ankle just become comfortable and normal?
And lastly, money isn’t a top issue but Warrior is at about $560, and True is at $960… is it worth the difference? Thanks in advance!
