Asking for a friend who is in the US. Would like to get ITIN by mail. Has a US address. IRS didn’t accept the application in person, asking for a letter from the bank requesting ITIN. Banks aren’t providing such letters (Cap 1, TD, Bank of America and Chase).
Can submit a certified copy of passport from back home. Could someone please recommend on steps to take to apply for ITIN? What reason should be elected for ITIN? There is no treaty agreement between the US and home country. Don’t know what to do at this point. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
