Isthmus peak track
Is this publicly accessible? The official government website seems to suggest so, but AllTrails marked it as private property so I’m very confused

I live in Australia and I travel to Queenstown for the snow every year. However one thing I’m struggling with is the loneliness. I’ve already read a few Reddit posts about similar topics, but I’m still planning to post a new one just in case there is anything Queenstown specific I’m not aware of yet
Here are some suggestions I’ve already read about but I have some reservations
- stay in a hostel - I’m already in my early 30s where I can afford and prefer my own bedroom. I tried staying in hostel last year traveling in Tasmania but didnt have a good sleep…
- go to a bar - as a female solo traveler I’m not sure how to stay safe about doing so. Anyone has suggestions?
- meetup groups - I searched multiple times but couldn’t find one :(
- talk to the person on the chair life - I’m gonna give this a try this time!
- join a tour - I’m planning to do this as well. But as an experienced solo traveler, sometimes I find a lot of tours way too overpriced, and the itinerary doesn’t seem to attract me the most :/
Would appreciate any suggestions!
Hey community and Perisher management, I’m sharing an incredibly frustrating experience from June 28th that left a very bad taste in my mouth, especially since my official complaint has been completely ignored by the resort.
Around 2:00 PM on Sunday 28 June, at the Mitchell T-bar queue in Perisher Valley, the queue setup was chaotic with very short sorting ropes. While everyone was trying to navigate the ambiguous lanes, a female Perisher instructor and a tall male skier next to her started actively and aggressively pushing their skis against mine to squeeze me out of the line.
When I stayed in my spot, the instructor turned around with a hostile look and snapped, "Can you stop pushing forward?" I politely explained I was just following the flow, and she aggressively barked back that the people ahead were her students and they were "together."
To ensure safety and avoid a scene, I politely said it was confusing and let them pass.
Here is my issue:
The Infrastructure is Flawed: The poor layout at Mitchell T-bar forces paying guests into awkward, unorganized bottlenecks.
Abuse of Uniform: If they were a lesson group, they should have aligned before entering the queue. Wearing a Perisher uniform does NOT give an instructor the privilege to physically push paying guests out of a public line and then falsely accuse them of "pushing."
Instructor Info for Identification:
- Caucasian female, late 40s/50s, distinct British accent (stated she’s been in Australia for 20+ years).
- Skiing on skis, managing a student group at Mitchell T-bar around 2 PM on June 28.
I lodged an official complaint weeks ago, but silence from customer service. Is this the standard of professionalism and guest safety Perisher proudly stands by now?
