Home Yokohama F Marinos Jersey

Last month I watched FC Machida Zelvia v Yokohama F Marinos in Tokyo, I wanted both jerseys but I was sitting in the Machida crowd so I can only bought their jersey .

I wanted small size, it was sold out at Yokohama website and Adidas shop didn’t have it, but Kamo did! It is Asia “small”, so it fits like “extra small” in Europe, which is fine for me.

Adidas did a good job with the design, a nice shade of blue and they have done well with all the sponsors, it doesn’t look too busy.

The team are owned by City Football Group, hope they haven’t been doing any dodging financial deals… 👀

Urawa Reds Diamonds v Fagiano Okayama at Saitama Stadium 2002

Last night I went to my third J League match in a week, and I was the most hyped for last night. Urawa Reds are having a bad season but they have great fans.

It took an hour train from my Air BnB in Yoyogi and a 20 minute walk to the 60,000+ stadium, built for the 2002 World Cup. It looked great, weirdly built, not all of the stands have coverings. It was a big stadium but it felt cosy compared to the other two stadiums as they don’t have an athletic track going around the pitch.

I turned up about 2 hours before kick off, to see the culture with fans, grab some merch, get some food and drinks (the food and drinks are cheap, compared to the UK, you can take your own food inside, if you have cans of beer, they let you pour them into paper cups, that would never happen in the UK! We can’t even drink beer in our stands, we get angry!).

I was on row 7, in the corner, near the away fans, who sung and drummed throughout the match. The main Urawa Reds ultras were stood in the stand behind the goal on the other side of the stadium, but they were loud and waved their massive flags throughout the match.

Urawa Reds have been poor this season but they won recently so I hoped they had a chance a win to the match, unfortunately they lost 2 - 1, with a late winner from Okayama. The match was sloppy, neither team had a great match. The crowd went wild when Urawa Reds scored in the second half but fell quiet when the winner went in.

These are my only J League matches I have been to. The matches weren’t great but they have different tactics here and I believe JFA with their plans to win a World Cup by 2050. The fans are great, it feels very comfortable, old and young fans, a lot of females were there (more than the UK). It was great experience.

I went to FC Tokyo v Kyoto Sanga FC at Ajinomoto Stadium

Hi, I have been to football games in England, Germany and Korea but, on Sunday I went to my first J League game at Ajinomoto Stadium.

I thought I did a good job that I got row 7, central, near player and manager boxes, but I was wrong, the weather was grim, raining before, throughout and after the match and there’s no covering for the first few rows, I was soaking.

The attendance was low but the Ultras were loud throughout the game. The match was competitive, quick and skilful. FC Tokyo won 2-0!

I will be going to more J League games while I am here.

If you like football and there is a match on, go, it’s great!

Norway Away jersey - Aero-Fit version with Braut Haaland print

I had been looking for the Norway Away for a while, the player version (Aero-Fit) with the (less) black badge. I almost bought the fan version, with the black badges and unofficial prints. Last Friday Subside Sports had a restock for Norway home and away jerseys, aero-fit versions. I was shocked! I bought. Weirdly, they were still in stock the next day.

This is my first player version from Nike, the material is nice and light, different to the fan version. I think I prefer the Adidas player version material but they are both worth the extra money. It’s slim fit, a nice length and a good length on the arms (normally I wear XS, they only had S so, to me it’s “baggy” (it’s not, I’m just used to having a tighter fit)).

The Norway badge is blacker than it looks on photos but it still looks strong, the Nike tick is nice.

Yes, it does look like a black T-shirt (with square shoulders) but the Braut Haaland (official) print gives an extra dimension.

In my Top 3 jerseys I bought for the World Cup.

South Korea away jersey - fan version

In May I went to Seoul and I bought the South Korea home jersey, when I returned home I wanted the away jersey, UK Soccer Shop was the only place in the UK selling XS and I wasn’t buy from them, so I had to wait for Nike to do a release (this Saturday). They went on sale at 8:00, I had a purchase email at 8:02, they were sold out at 8:05.

It’s great, the colour is brilliant, the floral patterns works really well and the little details (glow up badges and the collar) adds an extra dimension. Obviously there’s the Nike square shoulder… This is the fan version and the material is brilliant compared to the Adidas fan version.

Japan home jersey - fan version

The long wait is over. I ordered on World Cup day 1 from Subside Sports but there was a few delays, from them and me. They said it was going to be a 14 day dispatch from order date as the shirt was coming from the German warehouse (5 days), there’s a 5 day wait for printing and a 4 day wait for posting plus an extra delay as they had to reorder the printing.

On my fault, I ordered “18 UEDA”, after watching the Japan v Brazil match, I realised Ueda wore “AYASE” printing, I emailed Subside to see if I can change the name (offer to pay), which delayed the printing (but they didn’t charge me, it is great to talk with people, not AI chat box). Mid WC, Subside started doing match printing, I emailed asking if I can pay for it on my shirt, they did it for free due to the delays!

I have the authentic version for the Japan away (Adidas wouldn’t print on XS authentic, Subside didn’t have authentic) and, the shirt would be perfect if it I hadn’t an authentic version, it fits great, looks nice but the material feels cheap (compared to authentic) and the sewing on the badges is annoying after having heat printed on the authentic version. It’s little things, for a bit extra money makes a big difference.

The printing is good, the match print is nice and I had to get the WC badge.

The delays was annoying but Subside did a good job.

Mexico Third Jersey (Player Version)

Last week I received the Mexico home jersey, fan version (fan didn’t give the same hit that the player version for my Japan away so I ordered the third jersey player version from Adidas, it just arrived!).

For both Mexico jerseys, I had the WC patch and Mora print (on the third, there’s a straight crease under 9 on the back, not great).

I love how clean this is, the black is bold (I thought the pattern lines would be stronger) and the red, white and green is great. The heat press for badges is nice.

The size is XS and definitely smaller than XS Mexico home fan version and Japan away player version.

The material is fine, not as nice the Japan away but it’s better than Mexico home fan version.

Would definitely not go fan version (unless player version was sold out), worth the extra money.

This is still available from the Adidas UK store.

Marumo v RistoPizza

Hi, I am going to Tokyo for a month in September and I want to try the best pizza. Last year I went to Marumo and it was brilliant, in May I went to Seirinkan and it wasn’t as good. There’s a lot of hype around Risto, is it just hype? Should I revisit Marumo?

Thanks

Mexico home jersey (fan version)

Today I received my Mexico home jersey (XS) from Adidas, delayed a few days.

I loved the look of jersey on screen, and it looks great off screen. I went for Mora printing and the WC patch. The fitting is great, it’s slim and a good length.

I went for the player version for the away Japan jersey, wish I went player jersey for this one, the material isn’t great.

9/10 (would be 10/10 if I went for player, worth the money)
