I started out in a very promising SWE position at a FAANG company. I quit to pursue a passion, kept going back to tech on and off but didn’t actually do well in my positions because I was not paying attention to the work and instead focused on my passion. Realized that my passion is never gonna pay me as much as SWE and now trying to get back into the industry. I feel like a loser and that I am behind. Lost faith and confidence in my self to do well in anything. Advice from people who had similar paths please

Hello friends,

I am SWE with 4+ years of experience, 2 of them being at a FAANG company. I am currently unemployed and I am starting to look for jobs. I really want to break into PM and I do not know what the best way to go about it is:

1. Get another SWE role at a tech company and try to do an internal transfer

2. Get an MBA and apply for PM internships or PM roles post MBA

3. Cold apply to early PM roles and hope to get one. Maybe get a PM certificate or two to strengthen my case.
