need to make a first new chair day post but just have been so delighted by this sub. i am not surprised, have always found the disability community to be incredibly welcoming and helpful (bc we have to be iykyk). but i still just wanted to name that. it's so lovely to see so much helpful advice shared with folks like carers and loved ones too. just thanks y'all for making a sub that isn't falling prey to any of the usual reddit awfulness. it has made it feel a lot better to be a new wheelchair user, and yes of course i am still unpacking a lot of internalized ableism, but I know you all also get that. there is a very real level of increased vulnerability and such. it makes it a lot easier to deal with all of that knowing that folks here have my back 🖤 that's all! happy Friday! ♿✨
