Will I regret planting a lemon tree in a pot?
My partner and I are finally planting stuff to put on our north facing deck. We have romanticised the idea of having our very own lemon tree - however I’m disheartened to have just looked at some old posts on this sub and found posts from people having issues with pots and everyone seems to say plant in the ground. Unfortunately we don’t have that ability as we only have a deck and an astroturf area (we hate the turf, it was already here and we plan to redo that area but we probably won’t put a real lawn in as it’s south facing and very shady 😞)
Can someone please confirm if we’d be setting ourselves up for disappointment to bother with planting a lemon tree in a pot? Is it possible if you look after it well, and have a specific size pot, or specific variety? We have a spare 46cm pot, not sure if that’s too small… any advice or suggestions for alternatives would be amazing. Chat gpt is saying lemon would be fine in a pot but of course it’s designed to tell me what I want to hear…
We’re also planting jasmine, have a few Costaricana palms for privacy, and lavender. We’d love to have something that fruits but open minded to any plants - we just want to make it feel nice and green since we don’t have a proper “garden”.
Thanks so much!
