Is it an update from cloudflare? I have never seen this before. Previously it was only showing verifying and then take me to website. or Is it a malware?

Trying to help my mom with hearing loss and I don’t want to make this worse by guessing.

It’s mostly restaurants, TV, and group conversations. She can hear, but misses enough that people notice. She also does the smile-and-nod thing when she clearly didn’t catch it.

I know she needs a hearing test. That part is clear.

What I’m less clear on is whether OTC hearing aids are ever a decent first step, or if it’s better to just start with an audiologist and skip the experimenting.

Did anyone here try OTC first and then end up going the audiologist route anyway?

update ：Thank you so much for all the advice, everyone! I actually managed to take them to get checked out, and in the meantime, I just placed an order for a Vivtone just to test the waters and see how they adjust to the amplification. Really appreciate this community helping me navigate this!

So this is apparently my life now.

I thought restaurants were getting louder.

My wife says I’m missing half the words.

One friend says go to Costco.

Another said Vivtone worked for someone older in his family, but even he said to get my hearing checked first instead of just guessing.

Annoying, but probably fair.

Anyone here already deal with this?

Doctor first? Costco? OTC? Keep blaming everyone for mumbling
