Four power outages lasting 12+ hours in less than a month’s time. What gives?
I moved to Norman from Edmond in mid-2023, and up until June of this year power outages have been an extremely infrequent occurrence. Since moving to Norman there’s been maybe two or three notable power outages total, and none of them lasted anywhere close to 12 hours. One time the went went out at 2 AM and was back on by 3 AM. In 2024 an EF1 tornado touched down in Norman and my power didn’t even so much as flicker.
So, has OG&E just given up? Have I just been extremely lucky thus far? Or has this past month just been filled with weather that’s extraordinarily poorly conducive to powerline health? I hate the fact that every time I see a storm forecasted in the weather (previously my favorite type of weather!) I have to dread the fact that a power outage is all but inevitable and I’m going to have to spend upwards of 24 hours sweaty and without electricity. OG&E’s outage map is the number 1 most visited website on my phone within the past 2 months. Am I to subsist purely off of fast food because apparently restocking my fridge is heralding the next storm of the century? Thanks
