Can we talk about loaves of bakery bread 🥖? What's your go to?

We used to buy Grand Central's Como at the grocery store pre-pandemic. Something happened and their bread is no longer the same - it looks very uniform, with little-to-no holes in it. So we switched to New Seasons bread and lately, that has also gone downhill. The ciabatta is still okay, but all their other loaves seem to have that same uniformity like GCB's bread.

I'm willing to pay a little more for bread...I will occasionally splurge for Tabor Bread. Are there other bakery loaves that I should consider? East side preferred but I can schlep to inner West side (please don't make me go beyond the tunnel) for a good loaf.

We use bakery loaves for Spanish tomato bread (esp delicious this time of year!), dipping in soups (right now, gazpacho), making croutons, simple toast with a thick slab of cheese, avocado toast....

Just made the Princess Cake! What should my next bake be?

I have a friend that I bake with and we recently attempted the princess cake successfully! I feel like we have reached the peak of our baking pinnacle. What should our next bake be? Any suggestions?
