New behavior …?… Rapid resume for Fandango app on Roku ?

Roku OS vers.: 15.3.4 build: 2402
Fandango app vers.: 2.0 build 37

Observations related to current Fandango app on my Roku Ultra…

  • editing the order of the titles within lists appears to be broken;

  • splash screen sound clip remains obnoxiously loud;

  • the app’s startup behavior has changed: for subsequent launches within the same system restart window, the app resumes where you left off, nearly instantly (bypassing the startup slash screen), rather than always displaying the splash screen and settling on the main Spotlight page.

About that unexpected 'Requiem for a Dream' entry popping-up in your VUDU library

https://i.imgur.com/Q2d6tkN.jpeg

Your VUDU account hasn't been hacked. It's just a repeat of the now common "initial VUDU/MA mapping error" issue, with the incorrectly ported title porting into VUDU once they've corrected the content ID mapping errors b/w VUDU and MA .... but without going back to fix the initial porting error. (... as previously seen with Beast (2026) / Beast (2018); Jurassic World Dominion Theatrical / Extended)

So rights for movie A incorrectly ported into MA as movie B; and then movie B later ports into VUDU as a newly acquired title after the ID mappings are corrected, because they never bother to correct the initial porting error. It may seem like a benefit, but the problem is that you don't have MA rights for movie A, even after the mapping errors are corrected.

Latest Fandango app for Roku update ... issues & observations

Re: Version 2.0 build 13

My personal observations; please feel free to expand...

  • new thumbnail and splash screen art, reflecting name change;

  • app crashing on navigating into movie title 'More Info' tab, when 'Parental Guide' tile/data is absent; (separate thread here)

  • audio glitches still occurring during playback (random soft mute or blaring audio);

  • no change to basic My Lists limits ... still just 100 lists max and 200 items per list;

  • My Lists alphabetic sort still fails to ignore leading articles (A, An, The);

  • also Re: My Lists ... They've removed the "View All" action button for the (up to 10) My Lists rows on the main My Library page; new thumbnail row behavior for My Library ...

    • Pinned … max of 25 pins (no change); Pinned thumbnail row now displays max of 21 thumbnails + “View All” button; “View All” not displayed if 21 pins or fewer;

    • Recent Purchases … still just shows 6 most recent titles newly added (excepting quality upgrades);

    • Continue Watching ... limited to 20 titles max, and is apparently using the “21 thumbs + View All” scheme … so “View All” is never displayed

    • Wishlist ... apparently using a “10 thumbnails + View All” scheme;

    • Lists ... the (up to 10) personalized My Lists rows are only showing 9 thumbnails max, with no “View All” button to allow direct access to the full list;

    • My Movies, My TV ... both still using the prior “8 thumbnails + View All” scheme

  • Store thumbnail rows all appear to use a “21 thumbnails + View All” scheme, with “View All” omitted for any lists of 21 titles or fewer; (no clue why all thumbnail rows weren't updated to this new scheme; and 21 thumbnails just seems like more bad coding rather than a design choice)

  • browsing My Movies listing remains brutally slow and annoying, with the 50 thumbnails loaded per remote click still in place.

Fandango app on Roku crashing when exploring ‘More Info’ tab

The new ‘Fandango’ app on Roku is crashing in some cases, bouncing us out to the Roku Home Screen, seemingly whenever we try to drill down to the bottom of the “More Info” tab for any entry missing the “Parental Guide” section.

Example titles…

  • Looking for Mr Goodbar
  • 10 Rillington Place
  • The 10th Victim
  • 13 Conversations About One Thing
  • 1900
  • 42nd Street

Photo Streams is dead

They actually did it. Photo Streams is no longer available.

And to cap it off, they appear to have pulled the rug fully out from under us, as the promised not-really-a-replacement app, Backdrops, has had its ability to auto-start removed.
