Need Advice: Facing Unfounded LARP Player Warning Over Alleged Counterfeit Coins

Hi everyone,

Leading up to this, I experienced a lot of griefing behaviors from other players and had reported some, even reported someone for actively cheating. I cannot help but feel like this is a retaliation based on those circumstances.

I’m seeking advice on a situation in my LARP community where I received a formal player warning. During an event (I was absent from) where there was a massive coin exchange, staff sent me the following message:

> “During our coin exchange your name was brought up several times and while I cannot prove where any of the counterfeit coin has come specifically I am here to have the conversation about the issue and address your name being brought up.

> This is a formal warning that this behavior isn’t tolerated and we ask that if you know anything about anyone bringing in coin you let us know.”

There is no evidence linking me to counterfeit coins, and I was never given an opportunity to verify my coin inventory before receiving this warning.

For context:

* I’ve been LARPing for 20+ years and have never been accused of cheating.

* All coins I possess were obtained from NPCs, other players, or purchased legitimately years ago for use as tokens in another game - the latter being destroyed prior to attending this game outside of what remains in circulation amongst players at the other game they were used in.

* I maintain detailed records of all my coins, transactions, and inventory, which I’ve shared with staff.

* I’ve previously reported suspicious coin activity and tried to ensure all coins were legitimate.

* My group had a shared stockpile, which naturally resulted in me holding large sums of coins as well as game items.

Despite this, I was singled out based on hearsay from other players, some of whom have a history of griefing me in-game. This situation has made it difficult to continue playing.

I’m looking for guidance on:

  1. How to request a fair review of my coin inventory without unnecessary travel.

  2. How to communicate effectively with staff when accusations are assumption-based rather than evidence-based.

  3. Protecting myself from being unfairly targeted in group-oriented LARP scenarios.

I have inventory logs that show what my group had throughout the last five games I attended that I provided to staff, photos of the coins that I had, and as much transaction history I could gather available. Any advice on navigating situations like this in LARP communities would be greatly appreciated.

Obviously, my desire to continue playing is out the window after this experience but I desperately want the warning rescinded because I'm not guilty nor have I ever received one from any of the LARPs I've ever attended.

Thanks in advance!
