Why is breastfeeding so hard?!?

My sweet little thing was born at 34 weeks. She was in the nicu for about two weeks, and for most of that time she had a feeding tube in. I practiced breastfeeding as soon as possible, (before they put my milk in her tube they would let us practice together) and even was adamant about introducing breast before bottle. (i was sad to find out bottle was inevitable for her)

It was a good week of the practice breastfeeding before we introduced a bottle to her. Now we have had her home for 2 weeks and she seems to prefer bottle still. Now matter how many times i try to feed her while she’s calm i can’t get her too latch. She aggressively roots around and pushes away from my boob and cries. Then as soon as i give bottle to calm her down and get a little milk in her belly she’s perfectly happy. So discouraging.

If anyone has as tips i would appreciate it. I am at a loss as to why she won’t latch. All the times that i have gotten her to latch, she is so good at it and it’s literally hard to get her off my boob. that just obviously doesn’t happen every often.

I am so sick of pumping. I feel so disconnected from her when i pump, i finish feeding her and dont even get to have my snuggles because i have to go pump.

How to deal with compulsions that are “necessary” ?

I have an obsession with infestations. I have been dealing with carpet beetles for years now, and have gotten a lot better at coming to terms with the fact that bugs are everywhere in the world, and theres just not a lot you can do about it.

My husband and I currently live in a camper and own two vehicles. I had been finding carpet beetles in the vehicle I drive for the past couple weeks. Ive been able to make myself drive in the vehicle and ride in it without freaking out, and just keeping it generally clean (which we do anyways, we never leave stuff in our vehicles).

If this would have happened to me a year ago, I wouldn’t even be able to drive or ride in the car, and if I had to, I would immediately remove my clothing and wash it the second I stepped foot into my living space. I have been telling myself no to these compulsions, and driving the car just fine and then not worrying about bringing the beetles into our camper that we live in. (not taking off the “contaminated clothes”)

Today I found a carpet beetle in our camper. I am trying not to over react. I know that I most likely brought them in here from the truck, so it feels like I denied my compulsions, but in the end doing them would have saved me from bringing them into our living space.

I guess my main question is, if i want to prevent an infestation, how do I go about doing this without giving in to my compulsions?? It feels like the compulsions are necessary to follow through with if i don’t want these guys wreaking havoc on all of my personal items and food. Does anyone else have any experiences similar to this??

I want to deny my compulsions, but If i do that I will end up with a bug infestation that will ruin a lot of my items. Is the only way to get over my OCD is to just let them infest my space and just learn to live with the infestation?? I don’t see how I can progress with my OCD AND have a carpet beetle free space. Hopefully this makes a little sense to someone!!!
