- The Pokémon they got from a Professor (except for Yellow).
- The Pokémon they’ve had the longest.
- Fast or agile Pokémon.
- Just one of their main Pokémon.
- Pokémon with high HP or good defense.
- Flying Pokémon (except for Green).
Also, the sprites used are from the games each of them are named after. Red and Blue (whose Japanese name is Green) have sprites from the Japanese Red and Green versions, while Green (whose Japanese name is Blue) has sprites from the Japanese Blue version.
