Another disgruntled Miele user

My 5-year old Miele G7150 dishwasher developed the dreaded F70/Waterproof fault, where an internal leak causes water to pool in the bottom of the machine. I called out the service techician, who told me that I was loading the pots wrongly in the bottom rack. Apparantly, I was stacking the pots at the front of the machine at an angle facing outwards, that is towards the machine's door. The force of the spray causes water to leak through the bottom of the door into the pan at the bottom of the machine.

So I paid €150 to the service techician to tell me how to properly stack pots in my dishwasher that cost €1300. He claimed that this is explicitly mentioned in the user guide. I checked, and it isn't. What he didn't say is that the machine was not properly designed to handle the internal water pressure generated by the spray arms. Or that Miele are using lower-quality seals.

Is there any point in paying the Miele premium? The local consumer advocacy organisation here in Belgium recently published a reliability report for dishwashers. Miele used to regularly top the reliability rankings, but has now dropped out of the top-three.
