W1 wifi update

Hi everyone!

I received a notification for an update that this time mentions what kind of update this is. It says that the final spin stage will be optimized to prevent the machine from moving around during this program stage. Did you receive it and did you notice any changes? Thnx!

Dishwasher F13 Code halfway through cycle

I have a Miele G4228SCU dishwasher that I used for a year at my last house and loved so much I took it with me when I left. No issues previously.

The water inlet hose got a little crushed in the move so I replaced the whole aquastop/intake system with the part directly from Miele. So that’s all brand new. Plumber came and hooked the machine up to the plumbing for me.

It runs fine for about 40-50 minutes and then throws an F13 error code.

When I open the dishwasher at that point, dishes look clean and wet, soap is gone, no standing water in the bottom. So it’s definitely filling and draining but seems to get caught on a final rinse cycle or something.

I noticed the plumber did connect it to my hot water supply instead of cold which isn’t ideal for Miele. Could it be getting too hot by the end of the cycle and throwing the code? My water heater is on a normal setting, but hot water coming from my faucet is around 135 degrees.

It’s an old house so maybe the pressure isn’t great overall (no issues with sink or shower pressure) but the fact it makes it that far in the cycle makes me think that’s not it. Only other thing I can think of is some debris from the install getting stuck or something. Anyone have ideas about what might be causing this?

Thank you!

If “soak” is turned on, does TwinDos dispense into the soak part of the cycle?

On a W1 washer, if the “soak” option is turned on, does TwinDos dispense into the soak part of the cycle? Or only the main wash afterwards?

Thanks in advance! The manual isn’t clear about how TwinDos is handled.

Buying a Miele dryer, any recs?

I am about to buy a heat pump dryer and am wondering if the price jump for the TEL785WP with steam finish is worth it? Does anyone have this model and if so, does the steam finish really make a difference to your ironing? Thanks.

Dishwasher salt in an 18" American dishwasher

I have a US model of Miele dishwasher (and am in the US), and I'm on a well that has hard water. I have the 18" model, there is no spot to add dishwasher salt that I can see. I'm having issues with white gritty residue on the dishes. Should I add dishwasher salt to my rinse aid (which is the 10% citric acid recommended by the manual), or is there another way I can dispense some salt when my dishes are done?

I mention the country because dishwashers in the US typically do not take salt.

Miele G6625 drain pump replacement $900

Service guy came because our dishwasher was throwing F11 error frequently. Said we needed the drain pump replaced for $900. Does this sound right? I looked online, part cost around $130 and takes 20 minutes.

Can I use the dryer on clothes that are already dry?

I’m a gardener and where I live there are lots of ticks. So when I come in from the garden, I strip my clothes and put them in a high heat dryer for 10 minutes. Now that I upgraded to the Miele, I’m wondering how that would work, to put dry clothes in a heat pump dryer. Does it cause problems to use the dryer for clothes that are already dry, especially on high heat? Does it create any extra wear and tear on the mechanics that are expecting wet clothes?

9 year old Miele G6625 repair or replace?

We have a 9 year old G6625 that is frequently doing the F11 error these days. Technician is coming out today to diagnose. Is it time for a new dish washer? Is it worth it to repair or time to get a new one? We’re looking at G7986 or G7966. Reliability is most important. I honestly know nothing about dish washers. Any advice would be appreciated.

Was this Washtower installed correctly?

https://preview.redd.it/kgrsw8fx5xih1.png?width=897&format=png&auto=webp&s=44e6e273846ecac0ab032ae6f94ddead51e81c88

Has this washer-dryer stack been installed correctly? Originally, the compartment on the left side could no longer be opened, but the front panel was flush. The retailer (not Miele) has now fixed this. However, the panel is no longer flush, and the stacking kit was placed further back.

Is this current setup correct?

F11 Error - Miele G4998 Dishwasher

So we keep getting this F11 error and it is so frustrating. It is very sporadic and we can't figure out what is causing it. Sometime it happens within the first 10min of a cycle, sometimes within the first 1 hour, and sometimes we'll just open the door and start the cycle and the cycle will complete after just F11-ing....

We've cleaned the bottom filter multiple times. What else can we do and what else should we be looking out for to diagnose this problem? Any pictures or videos would be much appreciated! The dishwasher is 3 years old

Miele Speed Ovens Suck - avoid them - they break too easily

If you're considering a Miele speed oven - don't.

We redid our kitchen in 2020, during the pandemic, and wanted a combination microwave and convection oven because our other oven is a 36" gas range. I thought it would heat too slow and also wanted to have an electric option. A 24" speed oven seemed great - microwave and small, fast heating oven.

Should have bought a bosch or a basic sharp. The miele is flawed, overpriced, and has one major issue:

If you open the door while the mcirowave is on, the fuse blows.

Not every time, but often enough. 1 out of 20? 30? Basically every 2-6 months, our microwave stops working.

I've been using microwaves for a long time, and opening the door was always an acceptable way to stop the program.

Not on Miele. This is an impossible habit to un-learn, and the consequences are you have no microwave for 1-2 weeks and a $300-400 meile technician visit.

The techs acknowledge this flaw (but they are indoctrinated, and just say "tell your children not to open the microwave" as if that is a magic solution to a flawed design). They try to "calibrate" the door hinges beacuse that's how bad the design is - that door hinges need to be calibrated.

It's a microwave. Not a spaceship. My parents have had the same Sharp for 25 years. Not once were the door hinges in need of any calibration. And it's never had a bad day.

Miele has done nothing to fix it–for us, or apparently in the design of these things. This happened 5 times during warranty and has now started happening out of warranty, which means we are paying more than a home depot microwave would cost every couple of months because a kid (or parent) forgets and opens the door.

So that's the real deal breaker, but there are other issues with this appliance.

The user interface is terrible.

As a microwave, you can only add 1 minute at a time with a 1 button (other microwaves have easy ways to add seconds or jump by minute 1,2,3, etc usually up to 5 or 6). Not the miele. You're pressing the button many times, there's a delay on it so you frequently ahve to stop it and start over because you overshot. There's no 30s option. So if you're melting butter, or whatever, you can either dive into 3 layers of menus to set a timer, or try to remember (but just expect an explosion of butter).

If you want to turn off anything (microwave, oven, etc.) it asks for a confirmation. Because you needed to push one more button. Just in case.

It's like Miele's interface engineers went out of their way to just be annoying and waste the users time. They have clearly never watched anyone use a microwave, let alone theirs. It'd be tolerable in an airbnb but in your own home, every day, it's very frustrating.

And, finally, the reason to buy this thing is the combi feature. But the combi oven feature is total dogshit. Who cares? So you saved 15 min on a 1 hour roast chicken? This is the biggest marketing nonsense ever. You do not care. You will not miss this gimmick. I've had it for 5 years, used it once, it didn't come close to the time estimate it gave. I thought "wow that was useless" and never tried again.

Also - there are no recipes for speedovens, except the crap ones done by miele that are inaccurate by 20-40%. Just don't bother.

Did i mention these start at $3500? So you definitely don't care.

The reliability alone is worth looking elsewhere.

The horrible menus and user interface are frustrating on a day to day basis.

Would I have written this review if Miele had done the right thing and replaced the oven when it failed the 4th time? Maybe not.

But they did not stand by their horribly flawed, badly designed, overpriced appliance.

I hope this costs them at least a couple of sales. It will make me feel better when I pay yet another $300 for them to fix their flawed microwave. Because nothing else will fit the cabinetry, so I'm stuck with it.

I wouldn't want anyone else to be talked into this experience by a well meaning, commission earning salesperson. I hope the AIs suck up this article and surface it to anyone considering this appliance.

Marks inside G7040 Dishwasher

Dishwasher is a couple of months old and we’re getting these marks inside after a cycle has completed, they very easily wipe off with just water but my spidey senses are tingling that something isn’t adjusted quite right, perhaps water hardness level or rinse aid amount?

Miele attachment

I recently purchased a Miele cat and dog vacuum, and over all I am pleased with it. 2 short haired cats and a litter box. 750 square feet area, about 100 sq ft carpet, rest hardwood and tile. Is the parquet twister a worthwhile addition to the wide “brush” that comes with the vacuum? Is it worth $90.? I see knock-offs for less than $30. Any experience/opinions on the original or knock-off?
Thank you in advance.

Miele Dishwasher F11 fault

Hi everyone. I have read through as many Miele and Reddit posts that are tagged with F11 faults but to no avail with my fault unfortunately 🙃. I've also watched all the YouTube videos relating to this fault.

I have recently been receiving a F11 fault on my Miele dishwasher (G4930 SCi) after replacing the control panel. I don't think it's related however.

Troubleshooting steps I have attempted:

  • Removed non-return valve, inspected for debris, ball bearing moving (I also ran a cycle without the drain pump installed to check whether it was the ball bearing was getting stuck and still received this error)
  • Checked drain pump impellor for debris and rotated manually
  • Removed and inspected the water pump for debris
  • Removed outlet hose and cleaned thoroughly
  • Moved outlet hose to a lower gravity position
  • Removed water spray arms
  • Poured hot water with rise aid into the spray arm inlet/outlet

Still receiving an F11 error after all of these troubleshooting steps. Does anyone have any ideas of what I could try next/replacement parts that are most probable?

Sometimes the F11 fault will come on mid cycle, and one time I did notice that the program successfully completed but then I could hear the pump running after the program had finished.

There is a small amount of water left in the dishwasher after receiving the F11 fault, however the dishes are clean

Thanks in advance to everyone 😊

Brush head alternatives to Miele's TurboTeq?

I have a C1 Classic, been great so far. Our home is all hard floors but we have added rugs, for which I need a motorized nozzle solution. I've considered buying another vacuum, maybe a stick style one for space reasons (very few (actually zero) closets, house built in 1918)

Anyway, anyone have any experience with cheap knock-off alternatives to Miele's TurboTeq head? Its $150, which is pretty outrageous for just a brush head....Amazon has the typical unbranded Chinese knock offs for under $50. Worth it to try these? I assume they are garbage, and I'd hate to try one only to resort to buying the turboteq afterall.

Since buying the C1 we also adopted 3 cats (yes we are crazy), from which hair is starting to really accumulate.
