Miele consider the pole as a consumable part!

Mum had a Miele S5211 for 19 years, it gave up finally in December 2025.

She purchased a new Miele S1 in December, all was fine until last week, when the telescopic pole broke, (it keeps collapsing down on itself and won’t stay up on any setting).

She brought it back to power city where the staff proceeded to laugh at her and tell her that it was a consumable part and she would have to buy a new pole at €87 (nearly half the cost of the original vacuum!)

When she went to the Miele store, the sales lady, when trying to sell her a new vacuum, proceeded to tell her that everything including the pole was included in Miele’s two year parts and labour guarantee!

When she told her what happened, she gave her a number for Miele to call:

We got the following email offering a discount on a new pole!

It has totally put me off buying a new Miele to replace my S5211!

Add-mode on W1 poorly designed

I find the “Add” function on the Miele W1 washing machine (in Germany) to be very poorly designed.

If I press the start-stop button a few minutes after the wash cycle begins to add more laundry, then add the laundry and close the door again, the machine doesn’t simply continue running. The user manual states that the washing machine is supposed to continue running if you haven’t added any laundry after a few minutes. I just don’t understand why it still doesn’t simply continue running after the “Add” process, even with the door closed.

Yesterday, when I got home, I expected the wash cycle to be finished. However, it was still stuck in “Add” mode—and had even gone into sleep mode.

Why can’t the machine just keep running with the door closed (!)? What is the machine waiting for once the wash cycle has started? Water can’t leak out, after all. I just think this wasn’t thought through properly.

EDIT:

UX-suggestion for Miele developers: In case the lid was open and closed but not a second push on the button, just let the smartphone app ask: “Did you add laundry and forget to press start again?”

So the user can go back to the machine and push the button again, instead of this connected machine deciding that sleep is the better option.

If I were to take of the outer ring off, would that grant me enough space?

Unexpected cause of my Miele W1's F11 drainage fault

Miele W1 HW20-W (WWI660): Have been getting an intermittent F11 drainage fault error this last week. Looked like it was draining perfectly after I cleaned some of the hoses (I keep the filter clean, it wasn't that).

Turns out it was for of the same reason showers regularly clog the world over...

30 inch cooktop - Miele 7730FR, Bosch Benchmark, or GE Mongram (or Cafe)

Hi all. We're remodeling our kitchen and want to switch from gas to an induction cooktop. We are leaning towards the Miele because the burner layout is much better - largest burner is closest to the front. Wife is short and doesn't want to have to reach to the back.

I can't find more than a handful of reviews on the Miele. Thought about the Bosch because of the flex burners being in the front but after reading about them, it appears they're going to be small in terms of actual use for a 9 inch frying pan. GE looks good as well but its largest burner is set a bit further back than the Miele.

However, I have no idea on actual coil size on the Miele or any of the other models for that matter. I've seen comments about how your pan will have cold spots if the underlying burner is smaller than the pan and I've seen other comments or articles that take the opposite view. I certainly have to move meat around in my current frying pan when using a gas burner since the flames don't cover the entire pan bottom. Am I overthinking the coil sizes (I've been looking at the burner sizes - both Miele and GE have an 11 inch burner which I assumed would work well on a 9 inch frying pan).

I appreciate all thoughts and input as we've been using gas for 31 years.

Miele (W1 Excellence Washer and Dryer) won't connect with Optimum Fiber (AT&T)

Welp like the title says, my appliances won't connect to my fiber connection. I've tried the old trick of turning my fiber router off and changing the name of my personal hotspot to reflect the *exact* name of the router, but that didn't work. Then, I also saw on this forum, that I might have to turn off cellular data. That too did not work either. Sort of at my wits end after an across-the-state move and dealing with contractors/etc so I might just be too dang tired to sort. Any thoughts/tips/tricks? Thank you!

Miele KM 8575 FL

We can’t get out of dE-mode on our induction-top. The method of pressing 0 and 2 for 6 seconds isn’t possible because it is a constant glider not the numerical glider.

Any suggestions would help.

Washing machine error F51

Hi there! First post here so hopefully I’m addressing the right audience.
our 5 years old W1 is showing error message F051. It is used max 30 times per year as we use it only at our vacation house. A local technician came out and estimated a repair cost of 500+ EUR… I can hardly believe that.
Not been able to find a tutorial online for self repair so hope to get some guidance here…
Thanks ahead!

Miele F14

I have a Miele G6660SCVI that is showing error F14.

It happens every time with exactly 50 minutes remaining on the 75°C program.

It hums, stops, drains the water, beeps, and displays error F14.

With several of the other programs, the error appears sooner.

For the G7xxx Series Dishwashers, Can I Use Any Detergent or Tablet? (CA)

Im going to buy a G7 series Dishwasher, most likely without AutoDos, but even if I get the ones with AutoDos, am I forced to use a specific detergent? Or can I buy any cleaner I want?

I just dont want to put the wrong one into the machine and mess it up over something so simple.

Im talking like dish detergent from Costco in either Tablet form or Liquid. We plan on using the washing machine twice a week.

I know Miele sells their own dish detergent, my question is, why? Just marketing? Or do their dishwashers ACTUALLY require a different type of detergent than whats readily available literally everywhere?

Miele Food Probe Failed

Anyone know if there is an alternative to this Miele Food Roasting Probe. This is only 2.5 years old and has failed.
It’s £84.00 for a new one and I’m reluctant to pay that.
I also think it’s a very poor design given you are likely to be handling this with oven gloves on, there isn’t much room to grip it securely and remove when the oven is hot in the Jack side, the probe side is much more substantial.

Liquid in Fabric Softener Drawer

Just bought this brand new Miele washing machine (model in pictures). Have done a few washes today and I am loving it so far, however I have noticed there is quite a lot of liquid leftover in the fabric softener compartment. I know it says a small amount of water left behind is normal, but this is quite a lot imo, and it is still the colour of my fabric softener. I use less than a cap of softener so I don't think I am using too much. Would appreciate any advice, thank you!

Service or buy a new one - Miele dishwasher G1534 scu

We have a Miele dishwasher G1534SCU. It’s an older unit probably 15 years old.

We aren’t the original owners of the home.

We are now getting fault F25 - Desired temperature fault. This a technical fault that you cannot remedy yourself.

Is it worth paying $200aud callout plus whatever replacement part is required (estimates are $600) or should we strongly consider a purchasing new dishwasher due to the age and likelihood of further breakdowns?

Drying machine door

I have a Miele drying machine T1 and was wondering is the door can be hinged to the left instead of the right? The washing machine door is hinged from the left. I would like the drying machine to open from the right side instead of the left side. Any insight to this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

REALLY!? I can’t wash my dishes because of server maintenance!?

Is this thing serious? I got a new dishwasher. Loaded it. Tried to start it. Need to connect to app FIRST!?!? I can’t even run it without a friggin app!? Fine, whatever.

The app is doing server maintenance. It won’t be working for another several days. This is beyond ridiculous. Y’all have taken this too far. No one needs to keep tabs on a dishwasher like this.

Miele customer service

The glass on the door of my washing machine broke by itself, without anyone touching it.

I had a chat with Miele customer service and wrote:

I bought this machine 3.5 years ago. It is no longer under warranty but this is absolutely abnormal. It must be taken under warranty.

Miele customer service refused and quoted £180 plus the cost of the part for replacing it.

I paid £729 for this machine which broke after 3.5 years.

I am very unhappy with Miele customer service

CVA 7440; not rinsing on boot up

Hi ya’ll,
Our Miele built in coffee machine, CVA 7440 stopped doing the rinse phase on start up. Makes coffee flawlessly, does the rinse afterward….I know the machine does not perform a rinse if the temperature is hot enough, but it was the first morning coffee it skipped the rinse and continues to do so days later.
HELP.

Cleaning Washer Drum?

What is my best option for cleaning the inside of this washer drum? Unit is used so not sure of the original circumstances it was under if this is hard water staining or something else. Can I just run a bunch of vinegar in it on a hot wash or will that damage the machine?

Brown mass under washing machine

Hey,

I thought I ask the all mighty Reddit for what has come out of my WEI875 WPS washing machine.

We moved out and after moving the machine a brown, sticky, non smelling mass appeared on the tiles.

I have no idea what it is or what it can be but it doesent look so great.
The machine is still working fine and I am intending to keep it that way. Is there any oil leaking? Or what is this?

I am using twin dos system with my own washing stuff, but previously I used the sensitive original from Miele.
