Vacuum recommendation for hardwood+lots of stairs, long hair, and cats

Hi!

I'm looking for a vacuum (probably Miele) for my apartment. It's all hardwood (no rugs but lots of tight furniture spots and trinkets that collect dust) and there are a lot of stairs. I have long hair and there tends to be hair all over the floor from both me and my cat.

I really don't like dust so I currently remove it all with a wet tissue 😭 I would love to get an actual vacuum.

I am ok spending money but I'd rather keep costs below $300 so I'm ok getting something used off eBay or Facebook marketplace.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

Should I get a portable AC? (Tiny room, weird window)

I live in a very old and narrow (mid 1800s) 3 story townhouse in the NYC area with no AC. It is already getting unbearably hot at night, even with 2 fans running and it's affecting my sleep.

As you can see, my room is small (80 sqft), on the 2nd floor, and has one window which goes almost to the floor and is blocked by furniture. I use blackout curtains on my window. Should I get a portable AC unit?

I am 25F and I've been a SWE for 3 years now at a pretty prestigious company. At first it was ok but with AI this whole field is cooked.

We are highly encouraged to use AI and I don't use it because first of all I much much prefer writing my own code and also because of the environmental and ethical concerns I have with it.

All of a sudden, I have to spend hours reading these 10+ page specs that were generated by AI in 2 minutes by someone who couldn't be bothered to actually write something and I have to review PRs from engineers who used to write good code but now just generate slop.

It is so mentally taxing to parse through this slop all day on top of actually writing code and honestly I'm at my breaking point. I basically never sleep on Sunday nights because I get so anxious and then I spend some time pretty much every day crying in the office bathroom. I had to go back on an SSRI to cope but I am still miserable.

I feel like my life is either being at work or dreading being at work.

I am at the point where I hate code and I hate technology and I hate this stupid AI culture that is in basically every company now. I can't even speak up about this or express any anti-AI sentiment without putting my career in jeopardy so I don't say anything, but I still refuse to use cursor or Claude or whatever else.

The codebase has gone to absolute shit now and I just can't cope anymore. I can't keep up but I can't bring myself to give in to the slop of it all. I feel so unbelievably insulted when I ask someone to explain some part of a PR just to hear "Claude generated it" or "Ask cursor why it isn't working".

Things keep breaking and expectations keep going up and I used to be able to handle it but I just can't do it anymore. I tried interviewing around but I wasn't able to get anywhere, not even a Hackerrank pre-screening challenge.

I just can't do it anymore I can't even remember the last time I was truly happy with my life. I want to quit so bad but I have 0 other skills and I need an income and health insurance.

I just can't cognitively do this anymore. What should I do?

I was thinking of elementary school teaching but I'm kinda scared to take the plunge of going back to school, plus I'll still need to work during my education until I got to student teaching.

Looking back, the best job I ever had was the summer job I had where I just packed boxes, logged the ID of each box, and loaded carts of boxes to the mailing room every day. I wish something like that paid a living wage lol
