Moving back to England from Middle east, Family of 5

Hi everyone! 👋

We’re a family of five planning to move back to England and are currently trying to narrow down where we’d like to settle.

We have three children aged 8, 9 and 13, so our main priorities are good schools, a safe and family-friendly area, and a good quality of life.

We’re ideally looking for somewhere with rents of around £2,200 pcm or less. Our first preference would be somewhere around the Chilterns, as we have extended family nearby, but we know the area can be quite expensive, so we’re definitely open to alternatives.

Milton Keynes is currently on our shortlist, but we’d love to hear about other towns or areas we should consider.

Ideally, we’re looking for:
• Good schools and family-friendly neighbourhoods
• Safe areas with plenty of green space
• Rent around £2,200 pcm or less
• Good access to parks, countryside and outdoor activities
• Reasonable transport links to London — although commuting isn’t essential
• Remote working is also an option for us

We’re really interested in finding the right balance between schools, affordability, community and quality of life, rather than being tied to a particular town.

If you live in or know the Chilterns, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Milton Keynes or surrounding areas, we’d really appreciate your recommendations — including places you think we should avoid!

Thanks in advance for any advice and local insights. 😊
