Gameplay details from the 4th GTA VI leaked clip

* Zombix pills used to recover your health but having too many will have a weaker effect

* 8 slots for weapons + 2 healing items (zombix pills & epipen)

* Dedicated item wheel, separate from the weapon wheel

* Minimap only shows up in a vehicle or when wanted by the cops

*  Bus icon pops up by the bus stop, goes away as soon as Jason gets further from the bus stop (fast travel?)

* Switch blade, knife and hunting knife were the 3 melee items shown

* Knife combat has a lot more animations than in RDR2, same backhand slap animation from Trailer 2 (confirms the cashier robbing scene from Trailer 2 was gameplay)

* Visible injuries on Jason's arm after getting cut by a knife

* Jason loses his wanted level immediately after killing the cop but gets it back after an NPC spots him driving the police vehicle

* Weapon used for the cop's murder (knife) has an identification symbol, potentially alerting the cops if you equip it again in public

* The police bike has some GPS tracker as well indicated by the location sign next to fuel meter

* Enemies take longer to kill with the hunting knife compared to RDR2

* "Greet" and "Taunt" options for NPCs confirmed

* Standing around homeless junkies can piss them off and create fights

* Ducks seem to be dropping dead from hitting the bridge (?)

* Jason's clothes did not get wet after coming up from the water body surprisingly

* Different squishy sound effect for running with wet shoes lol

* Scooter brothers referenced on billboards

* Fastfood joints are back

GTA6 Design Philosophy

Hi everyone, r/GTA6 mod here. At this point, we all know how the game is going to look especially since we got our most recent look at it just four weeks ago. Now, the burning question is: how is the game actually going to work?

The closest relative to GTA 6 is obviously RDR2. RDR2's gameplay basically revolved around hyper realism. As Rob Nelson (Co-Studio Head at Rockstar North) once said, "A good story is extremely important, but a believable world is what's most important." Since the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, I think GTA 6 is going to be a major step up from RDR2 when it comes to realism.

How the game functions will mainly be decided by the core creative vision of the people making it. As we all know, Dan Houser left Rockstar, leaving Sam Houser as the President of Rockstar Games. We have little to no footage or insight regarding Sam's specific philosophy on game design, but we do have a few interesting bits from him to look at.

> "When we were making [San Andreas] one of the things I talked about - and thank God they didn't give in to my idiocy - was, 'Hey, we've got to make it interesting to drive four hours on a freeway and you have to stop to fill up on fuel'. And the team were like, 'God, give it a rest, mate'." Sam Houser via Games radar + (2008)

Sam has always been the guy obsessed with the overall vibe, the culture, and pushing the tech to its absolute limits. His whole philosophy is basically built on uncompromised creative freedom and perfectionism .He pushes his teams to build without any handcuffs former devs have literally said the internal rule at Rockstar is "go nuts first, trim it down later." With Sam running the show, we definitely shouldn't expect a watered down game. Instead, expect them to use nextgen tech to make the classic, chaotic GTA sandbox feel way more alive and reactive.

GTA 6 is gonna be way more realistic than RDR2, but in a much more fun way. RDR2 was amazing, but sometimes all that crazy realism made the gameplay feel a bit slow. GTA 6 will definitely fix that by taking all that insane detail and mixing it with the fast, chaotic gameplay we love. Realism and fun aren't going to clash at all here if anything, the next-gen tech is just going to make messing around in the sandbox feel way cooler and more immersive.

>we had to be careful not to go too far if you make that skinning take too long is it going to annoy people if that reload takes too long even if it's realistic it's annoying realism can be annoying the real world is annoying and I think that's what a lot of people play games to escape

The fact that GTA 6 is bringing in weapon lockers strongly suggests we're getting that exact same RDR2 inventory system.

>I think seeing where it was when I left and playing that final version and how much, if anything, has changed. How much things have changed,” he said. “I was privy to a lot of new things, content and story and stuff. I just love to know how that’s evolved and how it’s come out the other end. - Ben Hinchliffe working on GTA6 before leaving the studio in 2021

At the end of the day RDR2's realism is here to stay. It's true that some people really didn’t like the RDR2 approach for example, having to physically loot bodies one by one, or needing to eat to maintain your health. But personally, I think those tiny details are exactly what keeps the immersion from breaking.

Another big talking point in the community is the argument that Rockstar’s traditional mission design is outdated. But I really don't think GTA 6 will have that problem. If you look at the newer GTA Online updates, it's pretty clear Rockstar has been experimenting with giving players way more freedom. They are letting us approach objectives from different angles and handle setups in our own way, which is a massive hint for how open ended GTA 6's campaign missions are going to be.

GTA 6 is going to be the "biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet," and everything we are seeing proves they mean it.
