How better agriculture technology can 2-3x our exports
I saw a video on yt from which I came to know Netherlands exports ~150 bn usd worth of agriculture products. Then I went to chatgpt and asked how much india does and I was shocked by the difference. We only export worth ~50 bn and the result was not GM crops but technology.
One more thing to note india has 80x more farmland than Netherlands and still they are exporting 3 times of what we do.
Netherlands has best technology in farming next to US which exports 190bn worth of agri products. I do understand in india 80-90% farmers have less than 5 acres of land and technology costs is in lakhs which they cannot afford. But still there's something wrong with our supply chains because in winters tomato cost 60-70rs kg but in summers it's only 10-20rs(I live in tier 3 so it may cost 30-40 in higher cities).
The reason is middlemen who buy at very cheap prices it also may not be their fault but there has to be someone who is at fault. I'm not blaming middlemen because we don't have much proper agriculture items processing units like in other countries.
Netherlands who only import gm crops for feed is giving tough competition to USA who is completely gm based.
There are many such small problems which if fixed can help a lot to everyone. One another example is this here I'd blame traders and middlemen who eat lot of profits from farmers. Soyabean prices are same(5k for 1 quintal) since past many years only this year they raised to 7-8k. But soyab oil prices continue to rise from the beginning. If only those people would give some more profits to farmers it'd be better for them to invest in good technology.
Not to mention the fertilizers prices which have almost doubled in past few years. Currently I do understand it's due to middle east war but what about before. And we really need to push aggressively on agri education because excessive use of fertilizers is damaging our whole soil which is seriously concerning.
I may have mistake somewhere so I'm happy to learn more from more experienced people. I'm a teenager from tier 3 city and I'm posting this on what I can understand so I'm open to know more.
